Mills Survives Wild Modified Feature at Boone

BOONE, Iowa (July 18, 2026) — The Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature on Saturday night at Boone Speedway was shaping up to be a showdown between Jesse Patterson and Jeremy Mills before the race took a dramatic turn.

Patterson led the opening 11 laps until contact while battling for the lead left his car too damaged to continue. A multi-car incident eliminated nearly half the field and set up the race’s final stretch.

Clear Lake’s Jeremy Mills, who started fifth, inherited the lead and held off Jake McBirnie to score his eighth victory of the season. Seven of those wins have come in the Razor Chassis North Central Region, including three at Boone Speedway.

McBirnie finished second after starting eighth, while Todd Shute produced one of the night’s strongest charges, advancing 12 positions from 15th to third. Brian Mahlstedt crossed the stripe fourth ahead of Cory Sauerman, who climbed from 11th.

Meinecke Scores First Stock Car Win of Season

Matthew Meinecke of Jamaica chased the checkered flag all 20 laps of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature, taking the lead early and never surrendering it from his fourth starting position.

The victory was Meinecke’s first of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region.

Dillon Solum raced from eighth to second, Chris Pruitt finished third after starting on the pole, Doug Smith advanced 10 positions from 14th to fourth, and Jimmy Gustin completed the top five after rolling off 10th.

A heavy crash with six laps remaining brought out the caution after Parker Slagle came to a stop on the frontstretch and Jerid Ratzke collided with the disabled machine. Both drivers were uninjured but unable to continue.

Bennett and Will Smith Split Hobby Stock Feature Triumphs

Forty-two Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks filled the pit area, requiring split 15-lap features.

In the first main event, Josh Moorman paced the opening eight laps before Solomon Bennett of Milburn took command on lap nine and drove away for the victory. Bennett started fifth and earned his third B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win of the season, with all three coming at Boone.

Corey VanDerwilt finished second after starting seventh. Braden Gifford produced the hard charge of the race, advancing 14 spots from 17th to third. Phil Castellano started ninth and finished fourth, while Macon Robinson rounded out the top five from sixth.

Keith Burg dominated the early stages of the second Hobby Stock feature, building nearly a quarter-lap advantage before sliding off the top of turn two on lap seven to bring out the caution.

Will Smith of Lake City inherited the lead on the restart and never looked back, collecting his ninth Northern Region victory of the season and fifth at Boone.

Andrew Burg finished second after starting eighth, Tasker Timmerman came home third from fourth, Brandan Long crossed the line fourth after starting sixth, and Joey Young advanced 11 positions from 16th to complete the top five.

Osantowski Goes Wire-to-Wire in SportMod Feature

Riley Osantowski made the trip from Nebraska worthwhile, leading all 18 laps of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature for his fourth victory of the season and first at Boone Speedway.

Willy Kirk charged from 10th to second, Mike Smith advanced from 11th to third, Kyle Free finished fourth from his fourth starting position, and Gage Hilgenberg climbed eight spots from 13th to fifth.

May Takes Control in Mod Lite Main

Dan Keltner led the opening six laps of the Stealth Racing IMCA Mod Lite feature before Josh May of Des Moines took command.

May drove away for his seventh victory of the season, including four at Boone Speedway.

Keltner settled for second, while Austin Gray turned in an impressive drive from 12th to third. Cory Sonner finished fourth, and Bryan Zehm completed the top five after advancing from 11th.

Meyer, Albrant among winners at Boone Speedway

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (July 17) – You couldn’t have asked for better racing than the fans saw at the Boone Speedway on Saturday night.  The 167 cars that checked into the track put on some of the best racing of the year with close finishes and exciting action throughout all classes. Nick Meyer in the IMCA Modifieds was a first-time winner at Boone, as was Nate Albrant in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Dillon Raffurty in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites.  Eric Stanton returned to victory lane in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Devin Smith picked up his fourth regular season victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division.  It was also a night where drivers and fans paid their respects to longtime worker at the track, Tammy Stevens who recently lost her fight to cancer. Boone Speedway’s King of the Katwalks postponed

VINTON, Iowa (July 7, 2026) — The King of the Katwalks event for IMCA Stock Cars, originally scheduled for Saturday, July 18, at Boone Speedway, has been postponed. A new date for the $5,000-to-win IMCA special is yet to be determined. Regular weekly IMCA Stock Car point racing will remain on the July 18 race date.
