BOONE, Iowa (May 23, 2026) — Boone Speedway completed a full slate of make-up features from the rain-shortened May 16 program on Saturday night, highlighted by Todd Shute charging from seventh starting position to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature.

Shute resumed the postponed event already near the front after racing was halted the previous Saturday due to rain. Nick Meyer paced the opening lap once competition resumed, but Shute quickly took control on lap two and never relinquished the lead the rest of the way.

The Norwalk driver raced from seventh starting position to score his seventh Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of the season and second Boone Speedway triumph of 2026.

Jake McBernie charged ahead nine positions to finish second while Meyer settled for third. Jeremy Mills advanced eight spots to fourth, and Corey Sauerman rounded out the top five after gaining nine positions.

David and Devin Smith Sweep Boone Stock Car Make-Up Features

The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car make-up features produced some of the closest racing of the night.

In the first feature, Rod Richards led the opening four laps before pulling pitside with a flat tire, handing the lead to Jonathon Logue. Logue controlled much of the race until David Smith reeled him in during the closing circuits.

Smith edged ahead on lap 15 before Logue crossed back over to retake the lead the next time around. Smith mounted one final charge on lap 18 and this time held on for the victory.

The Lake City driver advanced 11 positions to score his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season. Logue charged forward six spots to finish second while Tyler Pickett gained seven positions to place third. Hunter Smith finished fourth and Doug Smith stormed ahead 14 spots to complete the top five.

The second Stock Car make-up feature saw Parker Slagle lead the opening seven laps before Devin Smith powered into the top spot.

Once in command, Smith never looked back en route to his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season.

The Lake City driver topped Scott Olson at the finish. Jeff Mueller advanced eight positions to finish third while Kyle Everts crossed the line fourth. Jimmy Gustin charged ahead eight spots to round out the top five.

Knutson and Yoerger Capture Hobby Stock Make-Up Features

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks also ran two make-up mains during the evening.

In the opening feature, Aron Fye led the first three laps before Eric Knutson took command. Once out front, Knutson maintained control the rest of the distance to secure his fifth B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season and third Boone Speedway triumph of 2026.

The Slater driver advanced eight positions for the win. Wayne Gifford finished second while Nathan DeRagon moved up seven spots to third. Seth Butler crossed the line fourth and Joe Wollenhaupt rounded out the top five after charging ahead nine positions.

The second Hobby Stock feature saw Matt McDonald lead the opening two laps before Aaron Rudolph took over from laps three through nine. Alex Yoerger then surged to the front and stayed there the remainder of the race to score his first career Hobby Stock victory.

The Pleasant Hill driver earned his first B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region triumph of the season after advancing three positions. Rudolph finished second ahead of McDonald, Mitchell McNeil, and Macon Robinson.

Sachau Adds Fourth Boone SportMod Victory of 2026

The Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod make-up feature saw Josalyn Elmquist lead the opening lap before Kyle Free grabbed the top spot on lap two.

Jake Sachau steadily worked his way through the field and took command on lap four before driving away for the victory. The Manning driver charged ahead eight spots to earn his seventh victory of the season and fourth Boone Speedway win of 2026.
