Maupin Breaks Through for First STIMS Win of 2025 at I-37

While many tracks celebrated the Fourth of July during the previous week, I-37 Speedway celebrated the next weekend, hosting its Military Appreciation Night with free admission to active and retired military, discounts for the rest of their families and loads of service members from the San Antonio bases. Last year the cannon was a big hit. #herecomestheboom At the start of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 20-lap feature it was Greg Dinsmore getting a good launch to get the lead followed by Ryan Doyon, Rick Green, Johnny Torres and Chris Carroll. Doyon quickly began looking on Greg Dinsmore getting the top spot on lap two with Johnny Torres getting third from Green. Logan Dinsmore made his way past Carroll for fifth. By JM Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (April 6, 2024) – Solar Eclipse Eve, Eve. I-37 Speedway roared back into action less than two days away from the Total Solar Eclipse. An omen perhaps? The inaugural South Texas Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Series race on I-37 Speedway’s ¼-mile, semi-banked, dirt, oval was a barn burner with Chris Morris running down Ryan Doyon in the final laps. Morris and Doyon exchanged slide jobs with Morris edging out Doyon at the checkers and Rick Green third. As green waved on the feature it was polesitter Doyon getting the point ahead of Morris, Jacob Hortch, Cody Leonard and Jared Maupin. On a lap three restart, Leonard got by Hortch for second while Greg Dinsmore, who started out back, made his way past Chris Carroll before another yellow. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (Jun. 11, 2025) – The opening night of I-37 Speedway’s three-race Wednesday mini-series for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds put $1,000 on the line, and Logan Dinsmore made sure no one else came close to touching it. After redrawing the pole, Dinsmore jumped out front at the drop of the green when Dean Abbey brushed the front stretch wall. Abbey lost momentum, allowing Cody Leonard to slip into second. Jared Maupin worked by both Abbey and Leonard to grab the runner-up spot, with Abbey quickly reclaiming third and setting his sights on Maupin. While Maupin and Abbey diced for second, Dinsmore stretched his advantage. By halfway, the Kerrville hotshoe had checked out entirely. Abbey finally got around Maupin late, but it was too little, too late to challenge the leader. Dinsmore, flawless in traffic, cruised to his first GRT Race Cars South Central Region win of the season. Abbey and Maupin rounded out the top three.
