Dodge City Raceway Park reschedules Stock Car-Hobby Stock Shootout

DODGE CITY, Kan. – Due to popular demand, Dodge City Raceway Park Director Craig The Crowd Pleaser Dollansky rescheduled the Sept. 4 ‘Stock Car-Hobby Stock Shootout’ to the ‘Sooner Late Model’ special July 30 during the annual Dodge City Days festivities.

“This will make an even bigger event at the track for people coming to town for Dodge City Days and looking for entertainment on the first night,” Dollansky said.

After multiple drivers expressed an interest in attending the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Iowa’s Action Track, Dodge City Raceway Park has accommodated this request by making a schedule change. 

“Competitors can now attend the IMCA Super Nationals at the Boone Speedway in Boone, Iowa, if they want,” said Dollansky. 

There will be no longer be any races at Dodge City on Sept. 4. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars who were not scheduled for that date will also be able to attend RaceSaver Nationals in Nebraska. 

A couple additions to the racing schedule have also been made to make up for the above cancellation, and due to the May 15 rainout. 

On Saturday July 24, Dodge City Raceway Park will add a make-up show for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.

At Dodge City Raceway Park, kids 12 and under are free, gates open at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.

Wahrman hoists Hobby hardware at Dodge City

(July 24) – Duane Wahrman became the fourth different IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winners in as many events this season Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park.  Wahrman took command on the sixth of 15 rounds and slipped away from the field until Tathan Burkhart raced into second at midway. Burkhart chipped away at the lead but ran out of laps to catch Wahrman. Burkhart was second with Skeets Salazar in third.  In the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature, Dakota Sproul put on a clinic as he posted his second win of the year. Gunning into the lead at the outset, Sproul ripped the top side of the track and checked out on the field as Clay Sellard and Brendon Gemmill worked into second and third.  A late caution negated Sproul’s hefty advantage, but he slipped away with ease to post the win. Fast start sends Williams to opening night URSS victory

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 24) – The Drive to Zero POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicked off its season atop the 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval of Dodge City Raceway Park on Saturday. Twenty-one cars were in action for the season opener as Ty Williams claimed the victory. Williams and Connor Atkinson set the early pace for the 30-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main event with some heat from Jeremy Huish and Luke Cranston. On lap three, Huish got past Atkinson and lap four saw Cranston passing Atkinson and Huish to take second.   Williams, Cranston, and Huish remained in the top three while defending URSS champion, Zach Blurton made his march forward from the 10th place starting position. Cranston pull several slide jobs on Williams only to have Williams cross under and continue to lead. Trouble for Cranston ensued on lap 13, ending his run for the evening. A restart saw Williams, Huish, Blurton, Atkinson, and Herbert sitting within the top five. Bubak is perfect at Dodge City Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.  He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. It wasn’t as easy as it may sound, though, as Jason Martin kept the pressure on throughout and briefly slid past Bubak on a pair of occasions only to have the latter successfully counter the move.   Martin first slid past Bubak in turn four momentarily after a lap four restart and then repeated the move in traffic on the 17th circuit.  Bubak successfully navigated past a pair of lapped cars and found open track once again when a final caution with a dozen laps remaining.  Bubak reached [Read More]
