Whitman captures checkers at Outagamie

SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 24) – Johnny Whitman led the last three laps before making his way to victory lane Friday night at Outagamie Speedway. 

Brekken Kleinschmidt paced the opening laps of the IMCA Modified headliner until Mark Schuene­mann raced by on lap four. A series of cautions before midway kept the field bunched up. Tyler Wilson used this to his advantage, snagging the lead down low on lap 10. 

Whitman worked through the field to the runner-up position after starting in row six. Wilson and Whitman worked the low groove until Wilson left the door open just enough to allow Whitman to sneak by for the lead. 

Whitman led the remaining three laps while Wilson settled for second at the pay window. Mike Mullen rallied to place third after sliding back to last on the first lap. 

Josh Mroczkowski measured his margin of victory over Trent Nolan by half a car length in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main. 

Jordan Bartz took the lead from Ryan Schmidt on lap seven and dominated the remainder of the event to score the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod win in a green to checkered contest. 

Matt Brehmer was victorious in the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature.

LaCrosse leads the way at Outagamie

(Aug. 23) – Benji LaCrosse only led one lap of the IMCA Modified feature but it was the one that paid as he snatched the victory from Andy Kleczka Friday at Outagamie Speed­way powered by EWSC.  Kleczka used his front row starting spot to build a huge lead early. That was erased when the cau­tion flew just past midway. The first to challenge for the top spot was last week’s winner Wyatt Block Jr. as he worked down low and Kleczka ran the cushion. Once again Kleczka built a gap as LaCrosse took the runner-up posi­tion with three laps remaining. LaCrosse closed in but remained two car lengths behind.  On the final corners, LaCrosse came in high and dove down the track to the inside of the leader as they came to the checkers. When the dust settled it was LaCrosse winning by the width of his bumper in a thriller. On the other side of the coin it was heartbreak city for Kleczka who had to settle for second. Outagamie openers go to Whitman, Richards, Engebregtsen, Schulte

By Edward Anschutz  SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 12) – One hundred and fifty-two cars packed the pit area for the first night of the 2020 racing season Friday at Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC. Defending IMCA Modified track champion Johnny Whitman drew the pole for the night’s main event and looked strong early on as Benji LaCrosse gave chase. LaCrosse closed in several times but was never able to mount a serious challenge for the lead. Whitman led flag to flag earning the victory over LaCrosse. Lucas Lamberies was third, Jason Ebert took fourth and Andy Kleczka completed the top five. Kenny Richards jumped from the pole position to the lead in the opening lap of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature as Jeremy Christians, Luke Lemmens and Eric Mahlik battled for second. Mahlik broke free of that battle midway through the contest but couldn’t find the grip to catch Richards. Stock Car checkers at Outagamie give Wilson feature wins in 4 IMCA divisions

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 28, 2022) – Tyler Wilson achieved two goals with one win on fair night at Outagamie Speedway. Driving for John Heinz, Wilson raced to his career first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature victory on July 22 at Seymour.  More notably, the checkers gave him one or more wins in a fourth different sanctioned division, an accomplishment of which just a handful of IMCA drivers can boast.  “I was bummed about starting 10th but it was pretty cool to be able to drive through the field and win,” said Wilson, from Little Suamico. “I was pumped. It was a goal of mine to win in all the IMCA divisions we have around here.
