Top side leads LaCrosse to Outagamie victory lane

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 12) – Benji LaCrosse took the top line to victory lane in IMCA Modified action Friday at Outagamie Speedway. 

Marcus Yarie had built up a straightaway advantage over Johnny Whitman but a caution on lap nine halted his progress. On the restart, Yarie collected an infield tire sending it onto that track that caused another caution. 

Yarie was sent to the tail of the field, handing the lead over to Whitman. With Whitman running the tires LaCrosse worked the top groove and was able to slip by Whitman on lap 12. 

LaCrosse put it on cruise control all the way to victory lane with his second feature win of the sea­son. Whitman had a solid points night with second, rookie Cody Schroeder continued to impress by taking third place, Justin Ritchie came through the last chance race to take fourth and Josh Long completed the top five in his first visit of the season.   

An opening lap crash in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature saw point leader Josh Mroczkowski head pit side with damage. As the race resumed, Zach Spangenberg went to battle with Bran­don Czarapata. 

Czarapata got the upper hand, taking the lead on lap five. Czarapata was dogged the remainder of the event by Eric Arneson, who just couldn’t find the grip needed to make the pass. 

Czarapata held on for his first feature win of the season. He also became the seventh different winner in as many nights. 

The Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature got off to a slow start as rookie Tanner Schultz ended up on his roof, causing a red flag. Schultz emerged unscathed but his racecar wasn’t so lucky. Kurt Moeller then paced the field until Kenny Richards raced by up top on lap 11. 

Richards pulled away for the win, in his first visit of the season.

Frederick is red hot at Outagamie Speedway  

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 4, 2023) – Kyle Frederick was on fire during Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Outagamie Speedway, both literally and figuratively. Frederick raced around Larry Karcz on the fifth circuit and into the lead. As the race progressed, Frederick’s advantage began to shrink as Karcz and Brandon Czarapata chased. It became apparent why Frederick’s lead began to fade as his left rear brake rotor began to glow bright orange. Signifying a stuck brake. Frederick’s machine held on just long enough to take the checkers. Once he pulled in the tech area, the left rear burst into flames. Track officials quicky put out the fire. Czarapata was able to sneak by on the last lap to take second, Karcz had his best run of the year to place third and after starting 21st, Rod Snellenberger completed the top four.   Rookie Jeff Schmuhl grabbed the lead on lap three of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main and never looked back, cruising to his first win of the season. Czarapatas collect trophies at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz  SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 3) – Team Czarapata took two IMCA feature wins Friday at Outagamie Speed­way. Mike Mullen raced to the lead on the second lap of the IMCA Modified feature and quickly pulled away from the field. Several cautions slowed his charge as Jason Czarapata and Brian Mullen gave chase. Cautions kept the pace slowed with the time limit ticking away. Mike Mullen once again pulled away on the restart but mechanical gremlins got the best of the no. 99 machine as his car came to a halt in turn two. Czarapata inherited the lead as the time limit expired on the race, handing him the win. Brian Mullen was second and Benji LaCrosse raced from row eight to place third. Rod Snellenberger took the lead on the seventh lap of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature only to have it swiped away a lap later by Brandon Czarapata. Czarapata was able to hold off a hard charging Jeremy Christians to score his first win of the season. Mike Mullen masters IMCA Modified main at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz  SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 17) – Shawn Freilich jumped to the point of the IMCA Modified feature Fri­day at Outagamie Speedway. His reign up front didn’t last long as ‘Mighty’ Mike Mullen blasted to lead on lap four. Benji LaCrosse came to call midway through the contest as he worked into the runner-up posi­tion. LaCrosse closed in late but it was Mullen scoring the win. LaCrosse had to settle for second place pay, Josh Long took third, Marcus Yarie was fourth and Jerry Wilinski completed the top five. The contest went green to checkers. In Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod action, drama unfolded early as point leader Vince Engebregsten didn’t make the call for the starting lineup. Zachary Raab took the lead on lap four and never looked back, cruising to a dominating win. The win was Raab’s first-ever at the speedway. Cole Magnin, Tyler Sobiesczyk, Matt Radtke and Jeff Schmuhl rounded out the top five. Clint Malueg was victorious in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.
