SHAWANO, Wis. (Aug. 18) – Justin Ritchie has won a number of features at Shawano Speedway, but the former late model track champion scored his first IMCA Modified feature Saturday night.
Cautions plagued the start of the event, but once the race got going Tim Rothe took the lead. Ritchie pursued Rothe until lap three when he made an inside pass to take the lead.
As Ritchie led, the action was hot and heavy behind him as Jason Czarapata, Lance Arneson and Wyatt Block all came from deep in the field to battle for second and third. In the end it was Ritchie making his way to victory lane followed by Czarapata, Block, Arneson and Konnor Wilinski.
Mitch Stankowski returned to victory lane after some time away from the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division. Lucas Lamberies raced to his seventh local Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory of the year ahead of Tyler Sobiesczyk, who finished a career-best second.
By Brandon Reichenberger SHAWANO, Wis. (June 3, 2023) – Shawano Speedway has seen numerous legendary drivers make laps around the track throughout its rich history. In 2007, the Shawano Speedway Hall of Fame was founded and since then two deserving legends have been inducted each year. Saturday night during intermission and in front of an enthusiastic crowd, friends and family, Eddie Muenster and Gordie Seegert Jr. were enshrined into the Hall of Fame as the class of 2023. Eighty-nine cars signed in to do battle and Jared Siefert, Tyler Sobiesczyk and Marcus Yarie would be IMCA feature winners. Jerry Muenster, a 2010 Hall of Fame inductee, and Paul Thorpe led the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified field to the green flag for a 20-lap, action-packed feature. Much like the heat race earlier on in the night it was Jerry Muenster and Jerry Wilinski holding down the top 2two spots at the start. Marcus Yarie overtook Nick Holtger for third by lap three and quickly set his sights on the top two. Wilinski used the high line [Read More]
By Dave Buss SHAWANO, Wis. (June 1) – Jerry Wilinski was the IMCA Modified winner on Hall of Fame Induction Night at Shawano Speedway. Wilinski skated by Tim Rothe on the second lap to grab the lead in the Saturday main event. Wilinski checked out from the field until a lap nine caution brought the pack back together. The yellow flag was the only thing that slowed Wilinski as he again jumped to a dominating lead on the restart. Wyatt Block, Rothe and Konnor Wilinski were left to sort things out for second at the line with Block grabbing the spot followed by Roth and Konnor Wilinski in the top four. Not to be outdone, Dan Michonski got by polesitter Asa Doxtator on lap one of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and proceeded to disappear from the pack on his way to a green to checkers win. A late caution changed everything in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature as Vince Engebregtsen had a great restart and charged to the lead, capturing the win [Read More]
