FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (July 28) – Shawn Kilgore, Kelsy Hayes and Greg Gretz put on a thriller of a show during the final laps of the IMCA Modified feature Saturday at 141 Speedway before Kilgore picked up the win.
Gretz and Hayes dueled early, swapped the lead multiple times until Gretz gained control down low. Hayes was not be deterred and brought her ‘A’ game up top, tracking down Gretz and pulling even on lap 13.
The 12th starting Kilgore worked his way through the field to join the top duo and the final five laps saw numerous three-wide battles. Hayes used the top to grab just enough of a lead for Kilgore to clear Gretz. Kilgore pulled a slide job to perfection on Hayes and grabbed the lead with Hayes pulling a slide job of her own back on Kilgore.
Gretz stayed with them as the trio went three-wide at the white flag.Kilgore proved to be just tough enough on the final lap to secure the win over Gretz and Hayes. Russ Reinwald finished fourth with Josh Lambert fifth.
One hundred and forty-two cars competed in the car fights. Other winners included Kyle Frederick in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Cody Schroeder in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Shaun Bangart in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.
FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (Aug. 18, 2022) – The third time was the charm Thursday night for Jacob Zellner. Making his career third start at 141 Speedway’s Captain of the Creek special for Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, the 2021 track champion finally got the best of Dylon Waldvogel late in the 50-lapper at Francis Creek. The $10,000 checkers marked a career-best payday for Zellner, who’d run 21st and 17th in his two previous Captain of the Creek outings. “Up to this point, we had nothing but bad luck in the big shows, so this was a big win for us, for sure,” he said. “It felt kind of surreal. FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – A crown jewel event for IMCA Modifieds will see 141 Speedway present the winner of the 13th annual Clash at the Creek with a well-deserved check for $10,000. The Wednesday and Thursday, June 15-17 special brings drivers across the country to the famed Wisconsin speedplant, where they’ll chase the big payday and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth. The Clash pays a minimum of $750 to start and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win both nights at Francis Creek. Winners of Stock Car features also become eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star race. FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (June 17) – The IMCA Modified driver they call ‘The Hitman’ was a big hit with his 141 Speedway fans Thursday night. Johnny Whitman took the lead following a lap 10 restart and led Mike Mullen around the oval at Francis Creek the last 40 green flag, lightning fast times around the track in taking the $10,000 Clash at the Creek win. “I’ve been wanting to do this for 13 years,” he said from victory lane. “It’s crazy, the amount of competition that’s here.
