Nelson gets first career win at Stuart

STUART, Iowa (July 27) – Garrett Nelson raced to the first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory of his career Friday at Stuart Speedway.

Hunter Longnecker and Nelson drew front row starts. Nelson led Longnecker and Matt Webb until Webb moved to second on lap four. Two laps later, Austin Luellen passed Longnecker for third but it was Nelson look­ing strong out front.

Webb and Luellen had a great race for second, but it was all Nelson as he went on to take his first ever SportMod win. Webb finished second with Luellen third, Chase Rudolf fourth and Colton Nelson fifth.

Josh Gilman was the IMCA Modified winner and Chris Pruitt prevailed in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main.

Matt McAtee took the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers and Cody Cleghorn checked out in the Mach-1 Sport Compact main.

The Final Ride at Stuart ends with Marriott in victory lane

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 2) – Everything about the Ron Little Memorial was big. A track record 141 cars took to the track Tuesday for the 20th and final event at Stuart Speedway. Forty-seven of those entries were IMCA Modifieds and Hunter Marriott wrote his name in as the $2,000 feature winner of a 30-lapper that ran green to checkers. Dubbed The Final Ride by members of the late IMCA Modified driver’s family, the main event saw Mar­riott and Travis Hatcher show the way, with Marriott leading Josh Most and Hatcher early on. Cody Laney advanced to third on lap four and with three and even four wide racing back in the pack it was still Marriott out front at the halfway point. Lapped traffic started around this time, but Marriott was smooth and strong as he went on to lead the entire way to pick up the top check. Benton County Frostbuster rescheduled to Sunday, Stuart opens tonight

VINTON, Iowa – Wednesday’s scheduled IMCA Frostbuster at Benton County Speedway has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 4.  Track officials made that announcement after determining they could not get the dirt oval at Vinton race-ready for the number of cars expected to compete on the original date.  Along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, Mach-1 Sport Compacts will be on the Sunday card.  Racing starts at 5 p.m. and there will be Easter eggs for the kids. More information about the Benton County Frostbuster is to be announced. Frostbuster Week starts tonight (Tuesday) at Stuart Speedway.
