Ryland outruns Northern SportMod foes at Antioch

(May 13, 2023) – After finishing second in Central California Clash standings, Jason Ryan Jr. won his career-first Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday at Antioch Speedway. With the pole position start, Dylan Connolly set the early pace ahead of Jonathan Hagio. A yellow flag waved for a four-car crash in turn four. Connolly continued to lead the restart with Tommy Fraser and Ryan moving into second and third, respectively. Connolly did an impressive job of leading the way in his pursuit of a first-time win and maintained the point through two more yellow flags. On a lap 16 restart, Ryan started challenging Fraser for second before slipping past him on lap 17. Ryan turned up the heat on Connolly before finding his opening on the back stretch on Lap 17 to gain command. Ryan went on to victory from there ahead of Connolly, Fraser, Trevor Clymens and Kenny Shrader. From Oakley, Ryan had run third in the Clash opener at Antioch on May 3.

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2024) – Andrew Pearce won the 49-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. The occasion was the fifth annual Bill Bowers Memorial. The win was worth $1,500, plus Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility and a special winner’s flannel jacket in memory of Bowers. Pearce had won Friday night feature as well.  Bobby Hogge IV started on the front row and was looking for his career second win in this event. He charged into the early lead ahead of Pearce and defending race winner Troy Foulger. An outside pass on the front stretch gained Foulger second on lap eight. The yellow flag waved moments later for a Chris Long spin. Hogge continued to lead the restart with Pearce moving back into second. Hogge slowed as Pearce and Foulger raced by. By Candice Martin  ANTIOCH, Calif. (Oct. 1, 2022) – Troy Foulger made two trips to victory lane on an emotional Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. The Oakley driver topped the $3,000 to win 49-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Antioch’s Bill Bowers Memorial West Coast Nationals, driving the 2020 GRT Chassis owned by Bowers’ son.  Earlier in the evening, Foulger had won the $1,200 prize in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, in a B & B Racing Chassis ride powered by a Billy Bowers-built engine.  Foulger had a front row start for the Modified headliner and took the early lead. Brian Cass held the second spot until Austin Burke gained the position on lap seven. Burke surrendered second to Nebraskan Jacob Hobscheidt on lap 35. The 2020 race winner went low in turn four on lap 44 to take the lead.
