Shatzer gets to lead late in Winchester RaceSaver win

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, Md. (June 19) – Nobody watching Mike Melair would ever have known this would become his first win in an IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway. Thirty cars vied in the event co-sanctioned by the Virginia Sprint Series, Pennsylvania Sprint Series and Laurel Highland Sprint Series and Melair tuned up for the main event with a dominating heat win.  Melair and Jason Roush then paced the feature field to green with Melair out front up top and Mikell McGee falling in behind before a car got a little too sideways causing a few cars to get together.  Once back to green, Melair was off again followed by McGee and soon Ryan Lynn was chasing them down in third. HAGERSTOWN, Md. (April 20) – Jonathon Jones wasn’t sure he would make the trip to Hager­stown Speedway until Saturday morning, but he sure made it worthwhile by topping the field of 23 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars for the win that evening. Christian Rumsey challenged but ran out of laps and settled for second in the main event, co-sanc­tioned by the Virginia Sprint Series and Laurel Highland Sprint Series.  Tyler Denochick and Jones paced the feature field to green. Jones stayed up high and that would be the magic line as he kept his car smooth and fast with Rumsey quickly challenging for second. Rumsey lost that spot to Drew Ritchey for a few laps before regaining the position and set off af­ter Jones. (July 2, 2022) – The annual Fourth of July Weekend event for the Virginia Sprint Series was a show case for patience as Matt Mullins led early, gave it up to save his tires and then blasted back by with a few laps to go for the win Saturday at Langley Speedway.  Chris Humblet and Mullins had paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green with Mullins out first and Humblet and Jerald Harris in tow.  Mullins was smooth out front as Harris got to second and Billy Hubbard followed. Hubbard made it to second and took off like a jet after Mullins, who was catching the back of the pack as the pavement laps really clicked off.
