Hendershot takes opener at Natural Bridge

(April 16, 2022) – Daren Bolac streaked by the race-long leader with a few laps to go for the Saturday night win in the 2022 season debut for the Virginia Sprint Series at Natural Bridge Speedway. The feature-only IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event had Mike Keeton and Bolac on the front row of the fast banked oval they went green with Keeton out first and Bolac in tow. After a couple of quick cautions it went back green with the front two unable to get away from the field as Jerald Harris, Joe Leavell and Chris Humblet stayed within striking distance. HAGERSTOWN, Md. (April 20) – Jonathon Jones wasn’t sure he would make the trip to Hager­stown Speedway until Saturday morning, but he sure made it worthwhile by topping the field of 23 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars for the win that evening. Christian Rumsey challenged but ran out of laps and settled for second in the main event, co-sanc­tioned by the Virginia Sprint Series and Laurel Highland Sprint Series.  Tyler Denochick and Jones paced the feature field to green. Jones stayed up high and that would be the magic line as he kept his car smooth and fast with Rumsey quickly challenging for second. Rumsey lost that spot to Drew Ritchey for a few laps before regaining the position and set off af­ter Jones. Denochick and Ryan Lynn had a long-term battle for fourth as most other positions continued to change throughout the field.   Rumsey reeled in Jones as the laps counted down but couldn’t catch up before the checkers flew. By Jim Haines NATURAL BRIDGE, Va. (May 18) – On the first summer-like day Tom Humphries figured out what he needed to get back to victory lane. Humphries topped the Saturday Virginia Sprint Series feature at Natural Bridge Speedway, becom­ing the fifth different IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car tour winner in as many events so far this season. Charlie Ware and Bill Rice started on the front row as the field went green with Rice out first. Rice tried to gap the field but Humphries stayed right on him. Jerald Harris made his way after the front two, first getting by Charlie Ware and then Daren Bo­lac. Humphries was by Rice and checking out as Harris closed, going low into second to take up the chase. The laps clicked off as Harris kept closing as they went under the white flag they were side-by-side.
