Hendershot takes opener at Natural Bridge

(June 20) – There was threatening weather in the skies overhead but the real thunder was on track as Dylan Shatzer sped to his second Virginia Sprint Series win of the year Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway. Tom Humphries and Scott Lutz paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green with Lutz going straight to the bottom and the front.  Shatzer, winner of the June 5 series lidlifter at Dixieland Speedway, had shown he liked the top and went straight to it for the lead on lap one. Lutz, Tom Humphries and Jerald Harris were on the chase until Humphries broke and coasted to the pits. On the restart, Harris took the high line to second and chased Shatzer with Lutz and Donny Hendershot racing for third. (Aug. 20, 2022) – Jerald Harris in the Harris Moving Sprinter showed he can move on track as well winning both his heat and feature, sweeping the Virginia Sprint Series show Saturday evening at Natural Bridge Speedway.  Caleb Harris and Bill Rice paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature to green with Rice out first and Jerald Harris right behind up high on the oval.  Rice stayed out front after a quick yellow with Harris second and Lance Christie, Matt Mullins and Joe Leavell rounding out the top five. The front three stayed right with each other as Leavell made his way to fourth. At halfway, Rice had started to get loose and Harris pounced, going low to the top spot and leaving Rice to battle with Christie. Christie went by and Leavell made it to third not long after. (Sept. 16) – Jerald Harris in the Harris Movers IMCA RaceSaver Sprinter sure had a handle on the Langley Speedway Saturday evening as he led every lap for a convincing win, his Virginia Sprint Series-leading third of the year. Harris and Matt Mullins lead the field to green with a bad outcome leaving Chris Humblet and Aaron Leach being towed to the infield and finished for the night. The second start was a good one as Harris jumped out and had Mullins right behind with Caleb Harris in third and Matthew Leach fourth. Harris was on a rail lap after lap with Mullins holding on the second as Leach made his way to third. Leach was all over Mullins when they got to traffic but Mullins stayed smooth and limited chances for Leach to pass.
