IMCA drivers join Darkside for spring specials at Maquoketa, Cedar County

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (March 13, 2024) – IMCA drivers will race for big checks and All-Star Invitational eligibility at a pair of Darkside Promotions events this spring.

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds are on the card both nights of the March 29 and 30 Nippy 50 Super Late Model show at Maquoketa Speedway, running for $1,500 to win on Friday and $2,500 to win on Saturday.

Racing starts at 6 p.m. Friday when entry fee is $30, pit passes are $40 and grandstand admission is $25. And on Saturday, entry fee is $50, pit passes are $45 and spectator admission is $35. Racing starts at 5 p.m.

April 5 and 6 Spring Fling shows bring the Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks to Cedar County Raceway at Tipton.

Modifieds race for $1,200 to win on Friday and $2,000 to win on Saturday, Stock Cars and SportMods for $500 to win on Friday and $1,200 to win on Saturday, and Hobby Stocks for $350 to win both nights.

Gates open at 2 p.m. and racing follows 6 p.m. hot laps on Friday, when entry fees are $40 for Modifieds and $20 for Stock Cars and SportMods. Spectator admission is $18 for adults, $12 for seniors and teens and $5 for kids ages 6-12.

Pits open at 1 p.m. with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing to follow on Saturday. Entry fees are $60 for Modifieds and $40 for Stock Cars and SportMods, with spectator admission at $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and teens and $10 for students ages 6-12.

Pit passes are $35 and grandstand admission for kids ages five and under is free both nights.

Details are to be announced for the Darkside-promoted West Liberty Fair race on Thursday, April 18, to feature sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Northern SportMods.

Duhme, Paris join winners’ list at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 14, 2022) – Mother Nature provided near perfect weather conditions for night number two of the 2022 IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season at Maquoketa Speedway. A great crowd was in attendance to watch an action packed night of racing that saw the final checkered flag of the evening wave at 9 p.m.   The headliner of the night was the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. The green flag waved with veteran racers Mike Garland and Steve Johnson sitting on the front row. The lead pack swelled to five cars before Ryan Duhme, starting fifth, was able to break out of the pack to take control. Another veteran Maquoketa driver, Ray Cox, provided pressure but Duhme was able to race to the checkers less than a car length ahead of Cox with last week’s feature winner Travis Denning taking third.   The closest finish of the night was in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Maquoketa Speedway falls to weather, season opener postponed to April 27

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (April 23, 2024) – The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season opener at Maquoketa Speedway scheduled for Saturday, April 20 fell victim to wet grounds and cold temperatures. The 2024 season will now be set to get underway on Saturday, April 27. The racing program will include sanctioned races in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Late Model, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod divisions, along with INEX Legends and the 4-cylinder compact class. Hot laps take to the quarter-mile Maquoketa Speedway, located on the Jackson County Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. with hot laps and racing will follow this Saturday.
