Shrader clinches track title with Antioch checkers

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (May 7, 2022) – Kellen Chadwick won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. This was the second win of the season for Chadwick.  Sean Wilson led the opening lap ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. before the yellow flag waved. On the restart, Terry DeCarlo Jr. made an impressive maneuver on the outside to gain the lead with brother Nick DeCarlo following him into second. DeCarlo Jr. led his younger brother on a lap three restart with Chadwick settling into third. Following the next yellow, DeCarlo Jr continued to lead with Chadwick moving into second on the lap six restart.  Chadwick ultimately made an inside move on the backstretch on lap 17 to take over. Motts started pressuring DeCarlo a little bit for the second position as Chadwick pulled away. By Candice Martin  ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 20, 2024) – Kellen Chadwick scored the victory in the 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified race Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. This was the opening race of the six-race Central California Clash. The win paid Chadwick $1,000 and made him eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Chadwick had the outside front row for the start and bolted into the lead at the green flag, followed by Bobby Hogge IV and Troy Foulger. Foulger slipped past Hogge for second on a lap three restart with Andrew Pearce settling into third. After a lap nine caution, the race had a good run of green flag racing with Chadwick pulling away from Foulger. A yellow flag with three laps to go bunched the field but Chadwick bolted ahead and brought it home to a satisfying win. Foulger settled for second ahead of Pearce, Hogge and Cody Burke. (Aug. 12) – Nick DeCarlo became a first-time winner while the Garrett Jernagan show kept rolling on night three of California IMCA Speedweek presented by Hoppes Motorsports at Antioch Speedway.  DeCarlo’s $1,000 IMCA Modified checkers put him on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot while Jernagan banked a third straight $750 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod winner’s check.  Robby Sawyer set the tone early in the Modified main, quick out of the box but getting company up front as the long green flag run developed. DeCarlo hunted down Sawyer, caught him on lap six and took off from there.    DeCarlo pulled away from the lead pack after each of three restarts.
