Shrader clinches track title with Antioch checkers

(April 29, 2023) – Defending track champion Nick DeCarlo kicked off the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified season with the 20-lap main event win Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Troy Foulger set the early pace ahead of Andrew Pearce. However, Buddy Kniss and Pearce got together with Pearce stalling on the back stretch for a lap four yellow. DeCarlo moved into second behind Foulger on the restart and Kniss brought out a yellow flag a lap later.  On this restart, DeCarlo motored ahead of Foulger for the lead. As they worked the 15th lap, Foulger took a wild ride on two wheels in turn one but somehow managed to bring it back down. This allowed DeCarlo to build a more than straightaway advantage by the time the checkered flag flew.  Foulger settled for second ahead of Bobby Motts Jr. and Danny Malfatti. ANTIOCH, Calif. (July 7, 2022) – After a week off to celebrate the Fourth of July, racing returns to Antioch Speedway in a big way this Saturday night, July 9. It’s the seventh annual Hetrick Memorial race and increased purses are on the line for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  Thanks to sponsorship, Modifieds will be competing for $1,500 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility on Saturday. It’s $750 to finish second and just taking the green flag in the main event assures the driver at least $150 at the pay window.  Northern SportMods compete for $750 to win while the Stock Cars get a $600 payout for the winner. This Friday and Saturday, the track will host the fifth annual Bill Bowers Memorial, featuring Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Friesen Performance INCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  The increased purse money for the Modifieds finds the drivers racing for $750 to win on Friday with a minimum of $100 to take the green. On Saturday night, the winner will receive $1,500 and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, second $700, third $600 and its $150 just to take the green. The winners have nice trophies waiting for them on Friday, and special flannel shirts commemorating their wins on Saturday.
