IMCA Modified, Stock Car All-Star qualifiers on Saturday card at Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 13, 2023) – Drivers headed to Abilene Speedway for this weekend’s IMCA.TV Ice Breaker should have their 2023 IMCA license purchased before heading to the track. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts are on season-opening cards Friday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 18.  Drivers in each of those divisions who haven’t purchased new licenses yet can go to imca.com and complete that process, and make things a little easier for everybody at the pit shack and in the scoring booth. Stock Cars race for $1,500 to win and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility while Modifieds run for $1,500 top checks and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility both nights. ABILENE, Texas (Oct. 19, 2024) – Kyle Wisdom had impressed at last year’s Southern Challenge Ryan Bard Memorial, racing from his ‘B’ feature to finish fourth in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. He turned heads again at Abilene Speedway’s 30th annual season-ending event on Saturday night, this time winning the main event and $2,000. “I’ve run second here in a SportMod a couple times and raced the Southern Challenge in a Modified four times but have never been able to win it before,” said the hometown hotshoe, newly eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “It’s something every driver around here wants to do. ABILENE, Texas (Jan. 27) – A fourth IMCA division joins Saturday race programs at Abilene Speedway this season.  Mach-1 Sport Compacts debut at the Texas speedplant on Feb. 15, night two of the season-opening Ice Breaker special.  “I’ve watched the IMCA 4-cylinder class run at Boyd and at Kennedale. It’s a good division for a wide age range of drivers,” promoter Rob Poor said. “Sport Compacts can be a class people get into or back into racing with and only have to spend a couple thousand dollars.”  “There are already three or four of these cars in town,” he added, “so we have a foundation to build on.” Twenty-one point races for Sport Compacts are scheduled at Abilene through Aug. 29.  The division is also on both Southern Challenge programs in October.  Abilene also features the IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods weekly.
