ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 15, 2025) — John Webb delivered a sensational performance at Abilene Speedway, powering to victory in the IMCA Modified feature during the final night of the 2025 Ice Breaker. The Pauls Valley, Oklahoma driver battled intensely with Friday night winner Toby Herring before seizing the lead in the opening laps and never looking back.
Webb initially jumped out front, but Herring found speed and took over the top spot on lap one. Webb stayed within striking distance but had his momentum halted multiple times by cautions just as he was closing in.
On lap four, Webb found an opening underneath Herring coming out of turn four and executed a decisive pass for the lead. From there, he managed lapped traffic efficiently and held off his South Central Region rivals to claim his first win of 2025.
A hard-fought battle for second unfolded during the long green-flag run, with three-time Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMod champion Dean Abbey securing the runner-up position at the checkered flag. Herring settled for third.
Holzmeister Sweeps Ice Breaker Weekend in IMCA Stock Cars
Doug Holzmeister tamed the field for the second straight night in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, leading every lap to sweep the Ice Breaker weekend. The Colby, Kansas driver overcame multiple restarts and strong challenges to claim back-to-back victories.
The feature kicked off with a thrilling three-wide battle for the lead, but Holzmeister surged ahead on the opening lap. Thomas Hall Jr. attempted to overtake the leader on lap nine but contacted the front stretch wall, ending his night early.
Meanwhile, a tight battle for second allowed Holzmeister to extend his advantage and cruise to victory over his fellow EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region competitors.
With his weekend sweep, Holzmeister not only secured bragging rights but also collected a well-earned bonus from IMCA TV for his dominant performance.
Brett Berry, also from Kansas, finished second after some intense mid-race battles, while Dustin Mooney stormed through the field from the back, advancing 12 positions after transferring from the B Main to claim third.
Sanford Redeems Himself With Southern SportMod Ice Breaker Win
After suffering a heartbreaking late-race defeat on Friday night, David Sanford bounced back in dominant fashion, leading every lap to capture the Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMod victory.
The Trent, Texas driver rocketed to the lead at the start, but repeated cautions prevented him from building a sizable gap. When the race finally settled into a long green-flag run, lapped traffic came into play, allowing Bradley Poor to close in.
Just as the four-time track champ, Poor, was setting up a move for the lead, a caution reset the field. On the restart, Poor lost momentum, allowing Danny Patterson to slip into second.
Patterson made a valiant effort on the final restart, but on lap 17, he pushed too high in turns three and four, falling back to fourth. With no further challenges, Sanford cruised to his first victory of 2025, capping off an eventful Ice Breaker weekend.
Poor finished second, while Michael Watkins rounded out the podium in third.
Haralson Outduels Martin For Sport Compact Victory
Keegan Haralson earned a well-deserved Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact victory, rebounding from a close second place finish the night before to claim Ice Breaker glory for his first win of the season.
2023 National Champion Randy Martin shot out to the early lead and built a comfortable margin, but Keegan Haralson found momentum running the high side, reeling in the leader by lap 6 and winning the race to the stripe.
Despite a pair of restarts, the Lubbock, Texas native never wavered, maintaining control and pulled away to secure the win.
Martin held on for second, while Kelly Van Driel, who started 14th and was driving Haralson’s backup car after damaging his primary ride in a heat race, finished an impressive third.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV.
