BELLS, Texas (Feb. 17) – Westin Abbey rang up a second Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour feature win Monday night, getting the best of his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car foes at Grayson County Speedway. Abbey had started 10th in the 30-lap, star-filled field at Bells, passed brother Dean for the lead just before halfway and then worked his way through traffic as the race ended with a long green flag run. Ryan Powers led the first six circuits from the pole before giving way to Dean Abbey, fresh off the win in the Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod main. Sunday winner Derek Green was briefly into the runner-up spot following the second of two lap yellow cautions. Westin Abbey swapped second with Powers before making his way to the front on lap 14. MESQUITE, Texas (March 22, 2022) – Being quick pays off even more during the upcoming Texas 305 RaceSaver Sprint Nationals. The Friday, March 25 main event for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $200 to start while the Saturday, March 26 headliner pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $500 to start. Gates open Thursday at 3 p.m. and tech starts at 4 p.m. with an open practice to follow from 6-9 p.m. Newly announced Smiley’s quick time awards of $1,000, $500 and $250 will be paid that evening. Pit passes are $15 while grandstand admission is free. Non-qualifier pay is $50 on Friday and $100 on Saturday. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded both nights. By Mike Spieker MESQUITE, Texas (May 30) – A wild Wednesday night at Devil’s Bowl Speedway was capped off by an upset win in round four of the IMCA Red River Modified Tour. Mark Carrell started on the pole and picked up the $1,000 payday. Entering the night, Carrell hadn’t had the best luck with the Red River Mod Tour, making just one A-main appearance through the first three rounds. Devil’s Bowl was a different story for the Redmond, Ore. driver. By night’s end, he pocketed $1,000 and added his name to the Fast Shafts All Star Invitational ballot. “It was nerve-wracking,” said Carrell of leading the field to the green. “[Devil’s Bowl] is my kind of race track.
