Snyder scores big at Bethany in URSS Budweiser Shootout

BETHANY, Mo. (June 5) – The POWRi Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing debuted at yet another Missouri facility on Saturday. The $1,000 to win Budweiser Shootout feature event at Bethany Speedway was action-packed with several position changes and it was Lincoln, Neb.’s Stu Snyder claiming victory.  

Jacob Dye and Mike Houseman Jr. set the pace for the 25-lap feature. The initial start resulted in hard contact between several cars and Chad Salem flipped into turn one.

A complete restart saw Houseman taking off with the early lead, followed by Dye and Snyder. Snyder took over second while Ty Williams began his march forward from ninth starting. Snyder soon went on to take the lead around the bottom with Houseman keeping a steady pace in second. Kyler Johnson moved up to challenge Williams for third while Snyder began stretching the lead.

The caution flew with five laps complete. Williams moved into second on the restart and soon took over the lead while Johnson advanced to third.

Williams stretched the lead across the field but lapped traffic soon became a factor, allowing Snyder and Johnson to close in. Snyder advanced to the lead, but not without pressure from Williams and Johnson.

A late-race restart with two laps remaining allowed Snyder a clear track and clean air to pull away from the field and go on to the victory, with Williams finishing runner-up and Johnson rounding out the podium finishers.

URSS heads to Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits DODGE CITY, Kan. – A busy stretch consisting of two weekends of racing for the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off this com­ing Saturday night as the tour makes its second trip of the young 2019 race season to Dodge City Raceway Park and another battle with the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprints. Three events have been completed thus far this season with Jake Martens of Fairview, Okla., picking up the season-opening victory at 81 Speedway back on April 5.  The next night the tour made its first trip of the season to Dodge City where track regular Luke Cranston of Ness City picked up the victory.  In the last event held back on May 4, Lincoln, Neb.’s Jason Martin claimed the checkered flag at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte.  Brian Herbert will come into the night’s racing action as the point leader while two-time and defend­ing tour champion Zach Blurton is just four-points behind. Championship Night is Saturday at Bethany

By Rick Staley  BETHANY, Mo. – This Saturday night, Sept. 14, the stars of Bethany Speedway will battle to the check­ers for prestigious track championships in all divisions.  IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod champions will be crowned. Gates open at 5 p.m., the drivers’ meeting is at 6:45 p.m., hot laps are at 7:30 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. Pit passes are $35 and grandstand admission is $10 for adults while kids six years of age and under free.

Bubak sprints to first at Fairbury’s Firecracker Nationals

FAIRBURY, Neb. (July 4) – Independence Day led the Mel Hambelton Ford Racing POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series to the 1/5-mile bullring of Jefferson County Speedway in Fairbury. A stacked field was on hand for the historic marking, the first time Sprint Cars took to the semi-banked dirt track and three-time series champion Jake Bubak was the victor. Kyler Johnson took off with the early lead with a heated battle for second behind him. Stuart Snyder rocketed ahead into turn three to take the lead on the fifth lap with J.D. Johnson following.  Leaders caught the end of the field before a lap 10 caution. Snyder took off with the lead on the restart, with Bubak, Zach Blurton and J.D. Johnson in the hunt for the lead.  Snyder and Bubak traded slide-job for slide-job for three laps until Bubak claimed the top spot, and he never looked back to grab the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win ahead of Snyder and Blurton.  Feature results – 1.
