Madrid, Clower triumph at Arizona Speedway

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (May 1) – Arizona Speedway was back in action on Saturday, with Zachary Madrid and Andy Clower earning IMCA feature wins.

Brody Center had the initial jump in the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event but before the comple­tion of the first lap he would be overtaken by Madrid.

Madrid took full control and checked out from the rest of the field. The only thing to slow down his dominance was three stoppages. Larry Brigner recovered from an early flat to end the night in second.  Brody Center was third while Dennis Losing posted a fourth-place result. The top five was completed by Raymond Doyle.  

In Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod action, the 20-lap main event began with Robert Holmes setting the tone early. Holmes lost the coveted top place position on the second circuit to Clower.

Clower put on a clinic the rest of the distance. The only yellow flag incident was a lap 12 stoppage but Clower mastered the restart. John Morris ended the race the runner-up with third going to Rex Hasely.  James Meile placed fourth and Robert Holmes took home fifth.

Arizona Speedway sets Superstition Showdown for three IMCA divisions

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. – Three IMCA divisions runs each night of Arizona Speedway’s Feb. 12-14 Superstition Showdown, with the Sunday IMCA Modified winner taking home $5,000. All three Modified feature are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers, with $1,500 paid to win Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13 events. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $500 to win and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for $750 to win Friday and Saturday.  Top checks in both divisions in the Valentine’s Day show on Sunday are $1,000.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and KMJ Performance Arizona State points will be awarded each night. IMCA Modifieds also earn Shaw Race Cars Western Region points and Stock Cars earn EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region points. Baca gets best win in Arizona Dirt Track Tour opener for IMCA Modifieds at San Tan Valley

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (Feb. 7) – A driver who’s already been busy racking up feature wins this season had a career highlight victory to talk about following the IMCA Modified feature on opening night of the IMCA Arizona Dirt Track Tour.  Chaz Baca got the best of Ricky Thornton Jr. in the $2,000 to win main event Friday at Arizona Speedway. The quick-paced 25-lapper at San Tan Valley ran caution-free and saw the front pair work through heavy traffic before Baca edged ahead and beat Thornton to the stripe by half a second. “That was the most exciting race I think I’ve ever run. Thornton, Hollatz, Thompson are Night 2 IMCA Arizona Dirt Track Tour winners

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (Feb. 8) – Ricky Thornton Jr., Chanse Hollatz and Cody Thompson all took another step up on the podium Saturday at Arizona Speedway.  Each had been runner-up in IMCA Arizona Dirt Track Tour features on opening night, then turned in checkered flag performances on night two at San Tan Valley. Thornton reeled in Drew Armstrong to win the IMCA Modified main event and $2,000. Hollatz domi­nated from the start of the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Stock Car headliner and Thompson got the best of Tyler Soppe and Brian Osantowski in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod show, which also paid $750 to win.  After two early cautions, Armstrong led the first 16 laps of the Modified main with Thornton and Friday winner Chaz Baca close behind.
