United Rebel Sprint Series partners with Drive to Zero program

OBERLIN, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing has partnered with the Kansas Department of Transportation’s highway safety program “Drive to Zero” as the title sponsor for the 2021 season.

The season is set to kick off on April 17 at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan. The Kansas-based series will now be referred to as the Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambleton Racing.  

The Drive to Zero program originated with a purpose to reduce fatalities and serious injuries that occur on Kansas highways. The program is designated to target impaired driving, texting, and seat belt violations. The goal of the Drive to Zero program is to ensure that every traveler arrives to their destination safely.  

“We are really excited about this opportunity to partner with the Kansas Department of Transportation and its Drive to Zero campaign to help spread their message of ‘Don’t drink and drive, don’t text and drive and always buckle up,’” said series promoter Rick Salem. 

The Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing 2021 Points Cham­pion will now cash in on a $5,000 pay day for the Drive to Zero points Championship. Additional incentives come with the partnership with the Drive to Zero Program for United Rebel Sprint Series drivers, fans and participating race tracks. 

Series drivers look ahead to an aggressive 30-plus race schedule for the upcoming season, with a few tracks that are new to series slated for competition.

Bubak collects Bob Salem Memorial checkers

OBERLIN, Kan. (Aug. 18) – Jake Bubak continued his winning ways in United Rebel Sprint Se­ries action Friday, topping the 25-lap feature Saturday at Oberlin Speedway’s Bob Salem Memo­rial. The win was good for $700. Bubak took charge from his outside front row starting spot from the onset and began stretching his lead, Jake Martens wrestled second from Mark Walinder on lap four and began the pursuit of Bubak in earnest. Bubak proved he was the master through lapped traffic in the caution-free event as he captured his third feature of the year with the URSS and Martens settled for second. Third went to a rim-riding J.D Johnson as he passed both Jeremy Huish and Zach Blurton coming out of turn four to the checkers. Blurton beating Huish to line as he was caught behind a lapped car. Johnson’s bold move earned him the Keizer Wheels hard charger award as he had started 13th. Bullring Nationals slated for United Rebel Sprint Series

LaCROSSE, Kan. – Competitors with the Drive to Zero POWRI United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing are preparing for Rush County Speedway’s Bullring Nationals. The United Rebel Sprint Series will be in competition on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31 atop the action-packed bullring located in LaCrosse, Kan. This race is always a favorite amongst drivers and fans as the action is non-stop on the ¼-mile Bullring.  On Friday, July 30, hot laps will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the green flying over competition at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $15 for adults, kids ages 5-10 $5 and kids under five free.  On Saturday, July 31, hot laps are again slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. IGeneral admission will remain the same for Saturday’s event.  The United Rebel Sprint Series partnered with Kansas’ Drive to Zero program to offer a $5,000 pay day to the 2021 series champion. United Rebel Sprint Series opening weekend at RPM’s Classic Weekend

 By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits PR HAYS, Kansas – The 15th consecutive season for the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Se­ries presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off in just three-short weeks as the tour will head to RPM Speedway in Hays, Kan., for a weekend doubleheader. Set for Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, the annual Mike Hughes Sunflower Classic Memorial presented by Nutrien Ag Solutions will see both night shows paying $1,000 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, E3 Spark Plugs Kansas State and series points will be awarded. A huge car count is expected with drivers from Nebraska, Oklahoma and Colorado indicating their in­tentions on competing with their Kansas counterparts. Westhold Transponders and RACEceivers are required and the track is asking all teams compet­ing to pit in a group on the west side of the main pit area. There will be an open practice session for all cars Thursday, March 26 with pit gates opening at 2 p.m. and practice from 6-10 p.m.
