LEXINGTON, Neb. (Aug. 30) – Ken Schrader raced his way onto the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot while Mike Nichols raced into another chapter in the IMCA record book at Dawson County Raceway’s Connie Jewett Memorial Championship Night. 

Schrader topped Sunday’s $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying main event for IMCA Modifieds, holding off Daniel Gottschalk as the 20-lapper wound down while hard charger Clay Money raced from the seventh row to finish third. 

Nichols, meanwhile, hustled to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers, equaling the all-time IMCA career wins record with his 557th victory. The Harlan Hustler later joined David Murray Jr., owner of 557 IMCA Modified wins, Schrader and promoter Chad Dolan for a post-race photo; the four own more than 1,200 combined IMCA wins. 

Casey Woken stayed with striking distance for much of the feature before settling for second behind Nichols.

When the smoke cleared, Blaine Walt was declared the victor in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature. Walt was able to earn the victory despite being involved in a last-lap incident that took out the leaders in the yellow-flag marred event.

Ty Rogers was in the right place at the right time as he earned runner-up honors after starting in the seventh row.

Taking advantage of the opportunity that presented itself, Luke Wassom grabbed the lead and held on to win the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Wassom was close behind when brothers Jacob Olmstead and Zach Olmstead made contact and lost momentum.

Wassom rocketed past. Jason Fusselman and Zach Olmstead made it close at the finish as the trio nearly passed the finish line side-by-side.

Brianna Maughlin was a force to be reckoned with as she set a blistering pace and finished strong in winning the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature. The victory came in her first visit to Dawson County.

Former track champion Dolan takes promoter’s post at Dawson County

LEXINGTON, Neb. – Back when he was winning IMCA track championships at Dawson County Raceway, Chad Dolan didn’t give a thought to promoting. Now that he’s in charge of the 3/8-mile dirt oval at Lexington, he’s looking for ways to give fans and drivers their money’s worth and then some.  “My vision is to give people the wow factor. Vanover holds off Woken for IMCA Stock Car Crown triumph at Dawson County

(June 12, 2022) – Kyle Vanover became the latest winner on the inaugural IMCA Sunoco Stock Car Crown Summer Series after the tour headed out west.  The third round for the series made the Sunday trip to the Sandhills where Lexington, Neb.’s Dawson County Raceway played host. A stout field of 40 stock cars from Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas packed the pit area with the track’s four other IMCA weekly racing classes also in action. The $2,000 to win main event saw Robert Leonard lead the 21-car field down to the green flag. His lead was short lived as Kyle Vanover jumped from his outside front row starting spot to lead. Roth wins third straight at Dawson County

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (May 27) – Anthony Roth, Tony Schultz, Mike Nichols and Zach Olmstead earned trips to the winner’s circle on Sunday evening at Dawson County Raceway. Wasting no time to get to the front, Roth got the lead on the second lap and never looked back to capture his third straight IMCA Modified victory at Lexington. Veteran wheelman Schultz regained the lead following a lap 11 restart in winning the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. No stranger to victory lane, Nichols won his third straight IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature from the ninth starting spot. The battle for the lead was heavy and heated in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature with Olmstead leading the final eight laps to claim the victory.
