Norris notches IMCA Modified win at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (July 25) – Arkansas hard charger Mark Norris took the lead from Carl Murphy with two laps remaining to become the seventh different Bad Boy Mowers IMCA Modified feature winner in eight races so far this season at the Quick-Quarter of Springfield Raceway.

In a wild Saturday night feature, most of the pack was chasing Murphy, who jumped to the early lead from his third starting spot while Norris started 11th on the grid.

Murphy set a steady pace with action all around behind him as the battle for second through ninth was wicked.

Norris was able to take advantage of the final restart and quickly made his winning move for IMCA Modified career victory no. 99.

Following Norris to the line were early leader Murphy and Jody Tillman.

Only Steven Bowers Jr. has won multiple features this season at Springfield.

IMCA Modified action continues next Saturday with racing slated to start at 7:15 p.m.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Following a rainout last Saturday, officials at the Quick-Quarter of Springfield Raceway have announced final details for the Firefall Fireworks Spectacular event this Saturday, July 3 with IMCA Modifieds presented by Bad Boy Mowers competing in a $500 to win, $100 to start scheduled 20 lap feature. Pearish prevails at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Aug. 3) – Oronogo’s Bobby Pearish thought he had it easy in The Bad Boy Mowers IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Springfield Raceway, until a lap 18 caution waved putting Arkansas hotshoe Shawn Walsh and Chris Tonoli right on his back bumper. A strong restart kept Pearish on point as he captured his second feature win of the season. Starting sixth on the grid, Pearish wasted no time in going to the front on the fast paced ¼-mile high-banked oval as a surprise Friday evening rain storm really had the track hooked up but still smooth.  While Pearish was running through the middle groove, Walsh began his charge from the 10th starting spot and then Tonoli found a quick line three-fourth’s up the race track and was closing. Springfield hosts Saturday Fast Shafts qualifier

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Quick Quarter of the Springfield Raceway will host a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier feature for IMCA Modifieds paying $1,066 to win and $100 to start this Saturday, Sept. 19. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. and racing starts at 5:30 p.m. There will be no hot laps. Grandstand admission is $20 for adults and free for kids ages 12 and under. Pit passes are $40 for adults, $15 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Entry fee is $30.  This is the second season the speedway has sanctioned its Modified division with IMCA and the Saturday show will feature a number of the top runners in the region.  More information is available on Facebook.
