42 teams set to blast off in Texas Sprint Series Tony Hernandez Memorial opener By Darin Short

KENNEDALE, Texas – The Texas Sprint Series season opens with the Tony Hernandez Memorial at Kennedale Speedway Park Saturday, March 7. 

Forty-two TSS teams have pre-entered to show their support for the Hernandez family and friends in attendance at the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event. 

Hernandez was the TSS founder and passed away after his courageous battle with cancer on Jan. 31 and the series and teams will honor him during opening ceremonies. 

Series drivers are reminded to read all the information under the Drivers/Rules link at www.raceTSS.com. 

The draw-cutoff/drivers’ meeting is slated for 5:30 p.m., with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

The lidlifter at Kennedale features IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Stars align for Parson in Texas Sprint Series wins

ABILENE, Texas – Michelle Parson went three years between IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature victories. Parson saw her victory drought end in her fifth Texas Sprint Series outing of the season, at Monarch Motor Speedway on July 3. Then she got an even more special win in her next start, following with the TSS checkers in front of a very full and very loud grandstand at hometown Abilene Speedway on July 31.  “We have struggled this season,” Parson said. “It was great to win at Monarch  and we had a lot of friends and family at Abilene. Wilson tops stout Boyd field for Texas Sprint Series win

BOYD, Texas (May 29) – The higher line took Chad Wilson to the front of the Texas Sprint Series feature field Friday at Boyd Raceway. The lower line kept him there.  Wilson started the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car 20-lapper from ninth, found a line to his liking higher up on the oval and passed Brandon Howle for the lead before midway.  He moved to lower grooves from that point and won ahead of Lucas Scherb and Logan Scherb.  Zane Lawrence and Jeb Sessums completed the top five. Texas Sprint Series checkers fly at Kennedale for Wilson

By Derrike Pennington KENNEDALE, Texas (May 15) – Chad Wilson got the job done Saturday at Kennedale Speedway Park, holding off Zane Lawrence for his first Texas Sprint Series win of the season. Wilson raced to first from fifth starting, taking the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car checkers ahead of Lawrence and Landon Thompson in a season-best third.  Christian Kinnison had the opportunity to start the feature from the pole after the redraw but decided to take the All Import Auto Parts Challenge, putting him to the rear of the field for a chance to win an extra $500.  With Christian relinquishing the pole position for the challenge, Casey Merrell inherited the spot to line up alongside teammate Thompson, With a strong start, Merrell looked to be on his way to a victory until a mid-race caution flew and once back to green he faded to ninth after suffering a tire issue.  Tire issues also plagued Kinnison, who saw his bid for the added money disappear with tire issues of his own and ended up coming [Read More]
