EUNICE, N.M. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars take top billing at Cardinal Speedway’s 10th annual Kelly Sheen Memorial Topless Shootout July 4-6.
Stock Cars race for $2,000 to win their 40-lapper on Saturday night, with a mandatory pit stop at halfway. Drivers will be allowed to make any changes to their car at that point; any of those changing a tire or tires will be required to restart from the back of the field.
Drivers drawing front row starting spots have the option to start from the back and earn an additional $1,000 if they can win the main event.
The feature pays a minimum of $125 to start with a $400 hard charger prize.
IMCA Modifieds and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods both race for $1,000 to win while IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks vie for $600 to win.
The Modified feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and all feature winners receive a 55-gallon drum of fuel in addition to their share of the purse.
IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and E3 Spark Plugs New Mexico State points will be awarded.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The draw closes at 6 p.m. and qualifying races begin at 8 p.m.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and an open practice runs from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, July 4. Food and beverages following in the pit area are provided by Kendall’s Kountry Meat Market and Aegis Chemical Solutions.
