MAQUOKETA, Iowa – Deery Brothers Summer Series drivers return to a pair of famil­iar venues next week, with $2,000 to win features Tuesday, June 18 at Maquoketa Speedway and Wednesday, June 19 at Independence Motor Speedway.

Both IMCA Late Model main events pay a minimum of $300 to start. 

Maquoketa, the site of a dozen previous Deery events, opens the pit gates at 3:15 p.m. Racing follows 6:15 p.m. hot laps, with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods on the program as well.

Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students and free for kids ages 12 and under, while pit passes are $30.

The Wednesday show will be the 30th held at Independence since 1987, the series’ inaugural sea­son. 

Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. Also on the card are IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.

Admission to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $15 for students and free for kids 12 and under accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $35.

The 492nd and 493rd events in series history make up the midweek doubleheader. Terry Neal of Ely leads all drivers with four career Deery wins at Maquoketa while hometown driver Curt Mar­tin’s six checkers are best at Indee.

Duffy tops thriller, Mohr wins first at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 17, 2023) – Maquoketa Speedway hosted Oly’s Garage Night at the races on Saturday night. Beautiful weather and a very fast tacky track provided for an action-packed night of stock car racing.  The headliner of the night featured the return of the IMCA Sunoco Late Models and a field of 16 cars took the green flag for a 25-lap feature that went flag to flag. Logan Duffy took the lead from pole sitter Brandon Loos and went on to build a comfortable advantage. As the laps wound down, the lead pack swelled to three as Bryce Garnhart and Dalton Simonsen joined Duffy.  Both Simonsen and Garnhart were scored as leaders late in the race. The front trio came on lapped traffic as the white flag waved. Coming to the checkers the three all took evasive action to try and clear the lapped cars. IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars run on opening night at Buchanan County Fair

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The first night of the Buchanan County Fair brings IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars to Independence Motor Speedway on Tuesday, July 6. Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth; Stock Cars run for a $750 top check, with the winner becoming eligible to qualify for the B & B Chassis All-Star race. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded. Entry fee for both divisions is $20. Pit passes are $30. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $15 for veterans and teens, $10 for kids ages 7-12 and free for ages six and under. The evening’s Denny Osborn Memorial Late Model event honors the 1989 IMCA national champion, who passed away May 24, and is presented by Travis Smock and Peoples Company.

Current, Roth among winners at Maquoketa Speedway

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 18, 2022) – Saturday, June 18th provided perfect weather for the racing action at Maquoketa Speedway. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds 20-lap feature win went to fourth row outside starter Tim Current. Current wheeled his #12T to the front quickly taking the lead from Steve Johnson on lap number four. Current’s teammate Ryan Duhme ran second on Saturday night ahead of Travis Denning.  A strong field of Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods ran a caution-free 15 lap main event on Saturday night. Jason Roth took first place honors by racing to the win ahead of Matt Mayo from Bakersfield, California. Front row starter Dakota Cole crossed under the checkers in third.  The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars provided a very entertaining feature. Joe Zrostlik led the feature until a late race caution set up a two lap dash to the finish. Jacob Ellithorpe took advantage of the restart and passed Zrostlik to score his fourth win of the season at Maquoketa.
