Duhme dominates IMCA Modifieds at Maquoketa

Daniel Wauters outran the hot weather and the competition to make it four straight checkered flags in the IMCA Hobby Sunoco Stocks Saturday evening during the Donna Heister Memorial. “What a night at Maquoketa Speedway,” Wauters said on Facebook. “Kids got plenty of ice cream from the Little Racers Car Club, got to ride around in the Batmobile, then we got our fourth straight feature win there. By Rob Hinckley  MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 22) – Jerry Miles bided his time, worked the high groove and sped by Logan Veloz with six laps left to win the 15-lap B&D Pit Stop IMCA Northern SportMod finale on Hall of Fame Night at Maquoketa Speedway.  Veloz, Rusty Deshaw, Tyler Soppe and Wes Digman came next. Point leader Soppe suffered a mechanical issue in his own no. 3T ride during his heat. He hopped into Scott Williams’ no. 9 and raced from the tail to that finish, his first outside the top two all season at Maquoketa.  Other feature winners were Ray Cox Jr. in the QCJeeps.com IMCA Modifieds, David Brandies in  the 15-lap GRE/REV Chassis IMCA Stock Cars and Randy Lamar in the Shawn’s Auto Service IMCA Hobby Stocks. The wins came after the inaugural class of the Maquoketa Speedway Hall of Fame was inducted. Ernie Cook, Bob Current, Pickle Edwards, Tom Feller, Lloyd Nabb and Karl Vohringer were honored during intermission.

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 24, 2023) – Amhof Trucking of Eldridge hosted on-track action Saturday night at Maquoketa Speedway. The racing took place under the threat of an approaching storm so the program was moved along as quickly as possible.  The IMCA Sunoco Late Models once again provided fans with a thrilling finish. As the winds began to whip around the fairgrounds, the Late Models were battling for position all the way through their 16-car field.  Race leader Dalton Simonsen took the white flag with what appeared to be a good enough lead that would allow him to score the win. Bryce Garnhart, however, had different ideas as he took his number 3 ride to the inside of Simonsen as the two raced down the back chute, setting up a charge to the finish off turn four which would net a feature win for Garnhart by less than two feet.
