CALHAN, Colo. (June 8) – Todd Plemons took the lead at the start and held off Zach Blurton to claim his first-career Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing 305-ci sprint car feature Saturday at El Paso County Raceway.

Tracey Hill and Plemons started on the front row for the 20-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car fea­ture finale with Hill taking the lead as the initial green flag fell. The race quickly went caution when two cars got together entering turns one and two.

On the complete restart, Plemons took the lead while Zach Blurton charged from his fourth start­ing position to take the runner-up position as Hill fell back to third. 

Plemons kept up the pace the rest of the distance and picked up his first career series victory and a $1,100 paycheck while two-time and defending tour champion Blurton came home second.

Scott Cochran finished third while Jeremy Huish picked up the Keizer Wheels Hard Charger award coming home fourth from his ninth starting position. Dalton Webb rounded out the top five.

Young rookies rule El Paso County Raceway

By Anna Spinuzzi CALHAN, Colo. (May 8) – Last Saturday was a night full of action-packed IMCA dirt racing and a night full of firsts at El Paso County Raceway. After a brief rain delay fans were treated to a night full of upsets when four IMCA racing divisions saw first-time track winners, including three young first-time feature winners, which was a first for the track itself.  In a night full of surprises, the night’s youngest winner was 14-year-old Hunter Smith in his 10th career start as he drove away with the checkered flag in the competitive IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division. Smith is making an impressive run at being the 2021 rookie of the year with 50 shows planned. Osborn debut for United Rebel Sprints see Russell earn Budweiser Shootout checkers

OSBORN, Mo. (June 4) – Nineteen IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars were in attendance for Friday’s POWRi Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series debut at Missouri’s US 36 Raceway and Jay Russell was the $1,000 Budweiser Shootout winner.  Russell and Jack Potter set the pace for the 25-lap feature, with Russell powering to the lead before a trio of early cautions.  Excellent side-by-side action followed amongst the top three cars, as Stuart Snyder slid to the high side with Russell and Kenny Potter just to the inside while Ty Williams began his march forward, moving into fourth. Potter and Snyder dueled for the runner-up position behind Russell as Williams and Mike Houseman Jr. challenged for fifth. Potter moved to second and began a charge on Russell before taking the lead. Richardson is best in URSS opener at Bullring Nationals

LaCROSSE, Kan. (July 25) – The POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing took to the Bullring at Rush County Speedway and Steven Richardson maneuvered a last lap pass to claim the night one Bullring Nationals feature win.  Zach Blurton and Jordan Knight set the pace for the 25-lap feature event for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars. Blurton took off with the early lead. Koby Walters and Jordan Knight fell in behind the race leader. Blurton finessed lapped traffic on lap seven, separating some distance between himself and the runner-up.   A late race caution saw the field bunched back up. Some confusion on the restart called for mass chaos for front-runners Blurton and Walters. Both took off for the restart but the waving of the green had not yet occurred.
