IMCA RaceSavers chase big payday at Dodge City Sprint Car Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.  He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. STOCKTON, Kan. (Aug. 17) – Jake Martens put in a stellar performance as he won his third United Rebel Sprint Series feature of the season, dominating Friday’s 20-lap main event at Stockton Speedway. Jake Bubak jumped into the lead and led the first two laps until a caution flew. On the restart, Martens slid Bubak in turn one, taking the lead and never looking back. Martens stretched his lead each lap to win by 10 car lengths over Bubak, Zach Blurton came and Jordan Knight. Scott Cochran, making his first appearance of the year with the Rebels, completed the top five. By David Smith Jr., OKTidbits OBERLIN, Kan. – A busy holiday weekend is just ahead as the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off Thursday night atop the Belleville High Banks Speedway in Belleville, Kan., before making lone 2019 appearance at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta on Saturday night.  The Independence Day special will pay $1,000 to win with $200 for all drivers making the feature finale. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Racing is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start time. Adult general admission tickets are $18 with kids ages 10-17 $10. All children nine and younger will be admitted into the grandstands for free. A huge firework show follows the races on Thursday night. After taking Friday night off, the tour will then head east to Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta for a special “Clash on the Hill,” Saturday night edition of IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car racing.
