Kossuth County hosts Hovinga Memorial

ALGONA, Iowa (June 11, 2024) – The 13th will be especially lucky for one IMCA Sunoco Stock Car driver at Kossuth County Speedway. Thursday’s Stock Car Shootout, presented by Beck’s Hybrids, at Algona pays $2,000 to win and is accompanied by B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. A minimum of $200 will be paid to start and the Stock Car portion of the June 13 program is draw redraw. Completing the card are Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, state and track points will be awarded. Pit passes are $30. Spectator admission is $12 for adults and free for kids ages 12 and under. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. The Stock Car Shootout will be broadcast by IMCA.TV.

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 21) – It was opening night at Kossuth County Speedway May 21 without any specta­tors in the grandstands but that did not deter a grand total of 103 cars from dotting the pits at Al­gona.  While the IMCA Modified featured was a heated battle throughout, pole-sitter Cody Knecht led the whole way to earn the win. Just a caution flag on lap number five delayed the Whittemore driver trip into the win­ner’s circle. Austin Wolf and Jeremy Mills both challenged Knecht but he refused to give up the lead. Thirty-one IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars vied for spots in their main event grid. Devin Smith grabbed the early but Jeffrey Larson pulled even at midway and took the lead on the following lap.  Both Troy Swearington and Smith kept pressure on Larson but he went onto the win with Smith second and Swearington third. ALGONA, Iowa (July 25, 2024) – He’s won a lot of races at Kossuth County Speedway but Jeremy Mills was hard pressed to name a bigger one than Thursday night’s Salute to Veterans powered by Performance Bodies main event. The veteran from Clear Lake drew the pole start and stayed in front through four restarts and despite the best efforts of a determined Joel Rust in winning the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature and $3,500. “I could win everything else here. These big races have kind of gotten away from me,” Mills said following his sixth win of the season and IMCA career 140th in the division, many of them coming at Algona. “We just had a good night and that started with a good draw. When you’re racing against this many good guys, you’ve got to have a good draw.
