Ven­tura County Fair race is Wednesday

VENTURA, Calif. – IMCA Modifieds are on the Wednesday night program at the Ventura County Fair, racing for $800 to win and a minimum of $100 to start.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, California State and track points will be awarded at the Aug. 1 show at Ventura Raceway.

Modified teams are asked to arrive as close to 9:30 a.m. as possible to line up along the street to get the best possible spots as they are given on a first come, first serve basis. Drivers will be allowed to pit with their rigs as long as space is available; anyone lining up earlier than 9:30 a.m. will be turned away.

Pit passes are $40 for members and $50 for non-members, with a car entry of $20. Crew members must also purchase a pit pass. All pit passes allow purchasers entry into the fair through the pit area gates.

There will be no parking for personal vehicles in the pit area.

Pits will open at 10 a.m., the drivers’ meeting is at 3:30 p.m. and racing begins at 6 p.m.

Ventura is back in action on Saturday

VENTURA, Calif. – After two weeks off, Ventura Raceway has a full program of action-packed racing by the beach headlined by the IMCA Modifieds.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, E3 Spark Plugs California State and track points will be awarded.  Pits open at noon, grandstands at 3 p.m.  Admission is adults $15, seniors, military and students $11 and kids 12 and under are free.  Check the www.venturaraceway.com website for a full schedule or the Facebook page for other events, notes and contests to get free tickets.

Ventura victory to Lauer

VENTURA, Calif. (May 18) – Ventura Raceway beat the rain and Ryan Lauer beat the rest of the IMCA Modified field to the finish line Saturday night.  The 20-lap main event proved fast and furious with Lauer passing Dennis Eckert on lap four and leading to the checkered flag for his second win of the season. Following Lauer to the line were 2018 track champion Trevor Fitz-Gibbon, Austin Grabowski, Terry Hershberger and Jack Parker.

Ventura brings Mach-1 Sport Compacts back to California

VENTURA, Calif. – A second IMCA division runs at Ventura Raceway this season, with five races dates scheduled for Mach-1 Sport Compacts. The 4-cylinder class is on Saturday programs March 13, April 10, May 22, June 19 and Sept. 25. “This is a division we wanted to run last year,” said promoter Jim Naylor, who saw his 2020 season end in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “We like the rules and we’re excited about them. We want to get this division going and see it be successful.” Ventura is the first California track to sanction the Sport Compacts, which last ran a full season in The Golden State in 2009, this year. IMCA Modifieds have run at Ventura since 1992. The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season for that division opens March 6 and also ends Sept. 25.  “We appreciate the long-time support our Modified division has enjoyed at Ventura,” noted IMCA Vice President of Operations Jim Stannard, “and look forward to new success there with the Sport Compacts.”
