Noteboom repeats as Modified winner at Algona

ALGONA, Iowa (May 17) – Jay Noteboom repeated as the IMCA Modified winner Thursday at Kossuth County Speedway.

Noteboom started on the inside of row number four before moving to the front of the field to pick up his second win of the season at Algona and his fourth overall this spring.

Kelly Shryock took second followed by Ethan Dotson, Austin Wolf and Cody Knecht. Dotson moved up seven positions during the final race of the evening as the hard charger.

John Wiemann started on the outside pole and led almost the whole way only to see Heath Tulp edge him by a bumper at the flag stand to take the victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature.

The Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature saw Colby Fett pick up his first local victory of the season as he came from the outside of the second row to earn the win.

Micah Lavrenz and Doug Wickman led 17 cars to flag stand to take the green flag for the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature, but once the flag dropped, Wickman dominated the field to earn the win as the race went green white checkered.

A good group of 17 Mach-1 Sport Compacts took a look at the Kossuth County oval in preparation for the Bumble Bee Nationals later this season with Jay DeVries coming from inside row five.

Kossuth County to Salute Home Town Heroes on Veterans Night 

ALGONA, Iowa – Kossuth County Speedway’s salute to veterans on Home Town Heroes Night July 26 boasts $2,000 to win features for IMCA Modifieds, presented by Becks Hybrids, and for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, presented by Altenburg Construction/Slat Replacement Professionals. Both divisions have a $50 entry fee and are draw/redraw. Thursday’s Modified feature is a 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and Harris Dash at the Clash qualifier. All weekly classes run and all points, including track, will be awarded. Veterans can show their ID to receive free grandstand admission or $10 off a pit pass. Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. and racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. Cars with patriotic wraps will be on display earlier in the day. More than $6,000 in prizes, including two limited edition Henry Golden Bay rifles, will be given in a drivers-only raffle.

IMCA Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights start busy week at Clay County

SPENCER, Iowa – Three races over the course of four nights are next for IMCA Modifieds following the Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour, starting Monday at Clay County Fair Speedway.  The Aug. 3 show at Spencer boasts a $1,000 to win, 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying feature.  Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow for the 97th event in the tour’s 10-plus seasons.  Fairmont Raceway’s Aug. 5 Bob Shryock Memorial and Kossuth County Speedway’s Aug. 6 Denny Hovenga Memorial are headlined by $1,000 to win, All-Star ballot qualifiers as well. Ruter races back to Kossuth County victory lane

ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 2) – Just a week after winning the Veterans’ Night event at Kossuth County Speedway, Ryan Ruter was standing in victory lane at Algona with another big check and a very tall trophy. Ruter led all 20 laps of Thursday’s Hovinga Memorial main event for IMCA Modifieds, outrunning Jeremy Mills and Tad Reutzel for the $1,000 payday. The feature was slowed by just a single caution and Ruter pulled ahead following the yellow just after midway. Clayton Christensen and Ethan Dotson rounded out the top five in the fair night show. Ruter was already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot for 2019. Tenth starting Chad Palmer was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner, ahead of Kevin Opheim and David Wickman.
