Nielsen thunders to rich Hobby checkers at Algona

ALGONA, Iowa (July 26) – The crowd at Kossuth County Speedway thanked the men and women who have served in our military, then applauded $2,000 feature winners Ryan Ruter and Elijah Zevenbergen during the Thursday Veterans’ Night event. Ruter was running third and in the right place to capitalize when Kyle Strickler and Jeremy Mills tangled up front in the IMCA Modified main. He led to the finish, running the top line and taking the checkers ahead of Wehrs Dash at the Clash winner Kelly Shryock, Ethan Dotson, Rob Hughes and Nick Meyer. Ruter had taken the initial green flag from the fifth spot, Shryock from ninth. “There were a lot of good cars there. HARLAN, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for a minimum of $1,000 to win each night of the Arnold Motor Supply Midwest Madness Tour. The tour starts Saturday, June 27 at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, then travels to The New Raceway Park Speedway at Jefferson, S.D., on Sunday, June 28; Clay County Fair Speedway at Spencer on Monday, June 29; Fairmont, Minn., Raceway on Tuesday, June 30; Kossuth County Speedway in Algona on Wednesday, July 1; Stuart Speedway on Thursday, July 2; and Crawford County Speedway in Denison on Friday, July 3. By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 13) – Once George Nordman got the lead there was no catching up Thursday night at the Thunderdome. Justin Raymond and Alex Smith brought the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature field to the starting line and Raymond was the early leader in the 15-lapper at Kossuth County Speedway.  Nordman wrestled his way to front and never gave it up, holding off last week’s winner Matt Looft for the win. Alec Fett finished third as Colby Fett took fourth and Jared Boumeester rounded out the top five. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars put on their usual entertaining show as Derek Green had to hold off a late run from hard-charging Kelly Shryock to win the feature.
