ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 13, 2026) — Jeremy Mills and Troy Swearingen each earned $2,000 feature victories at the Gene Schattschneider Memorial Race held Thursday night at Kossuth County Speedway.
Mills won the 25-lap Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature and moved one victory away from his 100th career win at Kossuth County Speedway.
The Clear Lake driver jumped out front at the start of the 17-car feature before the first yellow flag appeared on lap four when Todd Stinehart spun.
Mills remained in command following the restart and built a comfortable advantage. At the halfway point, Mills led Kyle Brown, Izac Mallicoat, Colby Fett and Chaz Baca.
A second and final caution came on lap 13 when Nick Meyer suffered a flat tire, but that did little to slow Mills’ trip to victory lane and the $2,000 payday.
It was Mills’ 10th victory of the season, with nine coming in the Razor Chassis North Central Region and five at Kossuth County Speedway. The triumph was also career win No. 99 at the Algona oval.
Mallicoat finished second, Brown was third, Baca fourth and Brandon Beckendorf fifth. Cody Laney was the hard charger, advancing 10 positions.
Swearingen Collects $2,000 Stock Car Victory
Troy Swearingen led nearly the entire 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature to collect the other $2,000 payday of the night.
Swearingen moved to the front after a complete restart and remained there through a lap 10 caution. Colby Fett briefly wrestled the lead away on lap 17, but Swearingen responded and regained command on his way to victory.
The Thompson driver earned his fourth EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of 2026, with all four coming at Kossuth County Speedway.
Fett finished second, Kelly Shryock was third, Mike Albertsen fourth and McCain Jennings fifth. Mike Hansen charged from 16th to ninth to earn hard charger honors.
Nielsen Makes Last-Lap Pass for Hobby Stock Win
Brandon Nielsen waited until the final lap to make his move in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature.
Jade Lange grabbed the early lead and continued to pace the field through a pair of cautions. Nielsen stayed on Lange’s back bumper before finally taking command with one lap remaining and driving to the $1,000 victory.
The Spencer driver recorded his ninth B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season and fifth at Kossuth County Speedway. The win also secured the track championship for Nielsen.
Lange settled for second, Steve Wickman was third, Josh Sidles fourth and Nathan DeRagon fifth. Sidles advanced six positions to earn hard charger honors.
Appel Leads Every Lap for First Win of 2026
Josh Appel led all 15 laps of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature to collect his first victory of the season and a $1,000 payday.
Appel jumped out front immediately and remained the leader through a lap five caution. He was still in command at halfway and never surrendered the top spot.
Alec Fett finished second, Payce Herrera third, Jake Simpson fourth and Charlie Stevens fifth.
