ALGONA, Iowa (July 1) – A teenager with the biggest win of his life and a veteran driver with a ton of feature wins highlighted the Midwest Madness Tour show at Kossuth County Speedway.

Sixteen-year old Jayden Larson won the IMCA Modified feature, holding off Travis Hatcher, Jeremy Mills and Kelly Shyrock for the biggest victory of his young career. The $1,000 checkers put the Mankato, Minn., driver on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

The veteran Shryock also earned $1,000 for his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory.

Hatcher and Larson led 24 Modifieds to the flag stand with Larson out front by lap two. After cautions on laps six and 10, the race stayed green for nine circuits. Larson, entering his sophomore year at Mankato East High School this fall, weathered two more restarts and held off some heavy hitters for his first-ever feature win at Algona.

Shryock tussled with Derek Green over the runner-up position, then started inching closer to leader Elijah Zevenbergen on lap 14 in the Stock Car main.

Shryock took over the lead with five laps to go and was in total control before the yellow flew with two to go.

He pulled away to a third win in six Stock Car starts this season at Kossuth County, ahead of Green and Chad Palmer.

Cody Nielsen notched IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win number four on the season at Algona while Coly Fett collected the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod checkers.
