Phillips captures much-anticipated Hobby Stock win at Stuart

By Cyndie Lamb STUART, Iowa (Aug. 17) – There were some emotions in victory lane to be sure, following Jack Phillips’ IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win Friday at Stuart Speedway. Phillips held off all challengers in taking the checkers and his post-race speech was emotional as he announced this was his first win in 25 years. John Watson was second and Jeremy Purdy third. Clint Luellen led the IMCA Modifieds to the checkers and Brandon Pruitt was best in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Austin Luellen topped the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature and Hunter Patrick paced the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Nelson gets first career win at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 27) – Garrett Nelson raced to the first Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory of his career Friday at Stuart Speedway. Hunter Longnecker and Nelson drew front row starts. Nelson led Longnecker and Matt Webb until Webb moved to second on lap four. Two laps later, Austin Luellen passed Longnecker for third but it was Nelson look­ing strong out front. Webb and Luellen had a great race for second, but it was all Nelson as he went on to take his first ever SportMod win. Webb finished second with Luellen third, Chase Rudolf fourth and Colton Nelson fifth. Josh Gilman was the IMCA Modified winner and Chris Pruitt prevailed in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main. Matt McAtee took the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers and Cody Cleghorn checked out in the Mach-1 Sport Compact main.

Sabin takes first career win at Stuart 

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 29) – Kolby Sabin won for the first time in his Mach-1 Sport Compact career Friday at Stuart Speedway. Sabin and Mitchell Bunch led the field to green. Sabin led the first two laps with Bunch pulling ahead for the next two circuits. Hunter Patrick threw his hat in the ring to lead lap five, but it was Curtis Miller mak­ing it four wide and taking over the top spot for laps six and seven. After falling as far back as fourth, Sabin shot from third to the lead on lap eight as he and Miller spent the rest of the race door to door for the win. Miller worked the high side hard, but each time it was Sabin at the stripe by a bumper and sometimes less than that. Monday Night Spotlight shines at Stuart Speedway on July 2

STUART, Iowa – The spotlight shines on three IMCA divisions at Stuart Speedway’s Monday, July 2 Monday Night Spotlight special. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win in a feature that doubles as a 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and Harris Dash at the Clash qualifier. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both run for $700 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and Iowa State points, but no track points will be given. The Monday Night Spotlight program will be broadcast by IMCA.TV and concludes with the 12th Dirt Dominator race. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $5 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. Miller’s dominance continues at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 8) – Curtis Miller won his fourth Mach-1 Sport Compact outing in as many outings Friday at Stuart Speedway. Hunter Patrick led Miller and Dean Richards in the early going with Miller taking the lead on lap four. Ryan Brown went for a wild tumble in turn two, landing just outside of the concrete barriers. Brown was OK but his night was over. Once the cars came back alive it was Miller cruising to the win with Richards second, Patrick third, Eric Alexander fourth and Zak Sickles fifth. Brandon Pruitt continued his own streak, winning a third consecutive IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Stuart. Nick Roberts was scored first across the stripe every circuit in winning the IMCA Modified feature. Austin Luellen was fastest in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main and John Watson collected the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers. Ayers gets first career IMCA Hobby Stock win

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 25) – Adam Ayers beat the clock and the rest of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock field in earning his career first feature win in the division Friday at Stuart Speedway. Ayers and Jack Phillips brought the field to green with Ayers getting the jump to lead Phillips and Matt McAtee on lap one. McAtee got past Phillips on lap two with Jeremy Purdy making it to third a lap later. The top three stayed the same until the race was brought to a stop on lap eight after Solomon Bennett got into the turn one wall and rolled over onto his roof. Bennett was OK but his night was over. Stuart opens for 57th season

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 18) – The last couple circuits got interesting with lapped traffic, but Clint Luellen was able to hold on get the IMCA Modified feature win Friday, opening night for Stuart Speedway’s 57th season. Luellen passed Matthew Meinecke for the lead on the second lap. Josh Gilman finished second with Nick Roberts third, Meinecke fourth and Jeff James fifth. Marcus Fagan was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner and Aaron Rudolph prevailed over a crowded field of IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Top honors in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main went to Austin Luellen and Curtis Mil­ler was promoted to the Mach-1 Sport Compact victory.
