STUART, Iowa (Sept. 22) – Lapped traffic was almost a factor in the final laps, but Jesse Dennis picked up the IMCA Modified win and $1,500 payday at Stuart Speedway’s Ron Little Memorial.

Dennis had taken the lead early in Saturday’s 30-lap race with Red Monson and then Cody Laney in the second spot. Laney made a charge and got up alongside Dennis a few times but couldn’t quite get the pass completed.

A couple cautions slowed the field, but each time it was Dennis, Laney and Monson at the front.

At the checkered flag it was Dennis picking up the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying win. Laney finished second with Monson third, Richie Gustin fourth and Kelly Shryock fifth.

One hundred and eighteen cars overflowed the pits for the 20th annual event.

Sixth-starting Mike Nichols charged into the lead on lap two and drove to a convincing IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win ahead of Bryan Snell and Brandon Pruitt.

Eric Stanton led start to finish in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. John Watson and Nick Foster completed the top three.

Post-race disqualification of the apparent winner promoted Dusty Masolini to the top spot in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main.

Devin Jones prevailed over a big field of Mach-1 Sport Compacts after working his way up front from outside row four. Second was Curtis Miller and Denny Berghahn was third.

IMCA Stock Car heavyweights square off at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 10) – The drivers running 1-2 in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car career wins ran 1-2 in a battle for the ages Wednesday at Stuart Speedway.  Brad Derry and Shawn Ritter lined up on the front row. Mike Nichols jumped to the lead on lap one and after a couple of cautions looked to cruise to the win, but a caution on lap 17 bunched the field and gave 11th starting Damon Murty a shot.  The top two put on a show over the last two laps and it was Nichols with a couple of strong moves to hang onto the lead and take the win by a half a car length. Stuart’s Whole Hog IMCA Stock Car winner takes home $5,000

STUART, Iowa – The winner of Stuart Speedway’s Whole Hog 50 special for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars brings home the bacon May 30-31. The inaugural special pays $5,000 and possibly a whole hog to win and a minimum of $400 to start. Heat races and qualifying features for Stock Cars are on Sunday, with all drivers making an ‘A’ main. Stock Cars will run heat races and last-chance qualifiers to fill the field on Memorial Day.  Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying features for the IMCA Modifieds pay $1,000 to win on Sunday and $1,500 to win on Monday. Berry continues hot streak at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds  STUART, Iowa (Aug. 19) – Hall of Fame Night saw Tom Berry Jr. end the Wednesday night race program at Stuart Speedway in victory lane. Scott Bash and Kollin Hibdon showed the way early. Hibdon led until lap 18 when Berry came knocking. Berry threaded the needle between Hibdon and a lapped car to take over the top spot and went on to take the win.  Hibdon finished second with Josh Gilman third. Dallon Murty was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner while Brandon Cox worked his way to the front and held off a charge from Dylan Nelson to take the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers. Brayton Carter prevailed in a two-lap Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod shootout with Brian Osan­towski. Mitchell Bunch shot to the front on the first lap and drove off to the Mach-1 Sport Compact win.
