IMCA Modifieds, Late Models chase $1,000 checks at Davenport opener

DAVENPORT, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Late Models both run for $1,000 to win on opening night Friday, April 23 at Davenport Speedway.  The Modified feature is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot; Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods also see their first action of the season at Davenport that evening. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Pit passes are $30. Spectator admission is $12 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5-12, with four and under free.

Davenport Speedway celebrates Aug. 21 Weedon Memorial, centennial

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Davenport Speedway combines two celebrations on a single night of racing, marking the 100th year since the track opened with the 15th annual Ronnie Weedon Memorial. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,500 to win and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth their draw/redraw show. IMCA Sunoco Late Models and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods are also on the Friday, Aug. 21 card.  There is no entry fee and pit passes are $30.  IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded.  Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-12 and free for four and under.

$250 Sunoco bonuses for winners at Farley, Davenport and Marshalltown this week

VINTON, Iowa – The paydays get even better this week for a trio of IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature winners.  It begins Wednesday evening at 300 Raceway in Farley as the IMCA Late Model winner pockets an extra $250 courtesy of Sunoco Race Fuels. Thursday night the bonus moves to Davenport Speedway, and the night begins with last Friday’s make-up feature. Then the pot gets richer as the next $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus of the season will be paid to the scheduled June 25 IMCA Late Model winner. The final bonus of the week will be presented Friday night at Marshalltown Speedway. Double Late Model features are also on the card at Marshalltown, with the $250 Sunoco bonus presented to the night’s second feature winner – the evening’s originally scheduled feature. Green flag flies Friday at Davenport Speedway

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The first green flag of the season flies this Friday at Davenport Speedway, with three IMCA divisions on the May 15 card. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Late Models and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods will be featured at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, state at track points will be awarded. No spectators will be allowed in the grandstand and a maximum of 10 people will be allowed with each car in the pit area. Social distancing will be in effect and track officials recommend that masks be worn when drivers and/or crew are away from their area in the pits.  Pits open at 3 p.m. and hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Wet weather wins at West Burlington, 500th Deery event moves to Davenport

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (Sept. 27) – Inclement weather was again the winner at 34 Raceway.  The Deery Brothers Summer Series event scheduled tonight (Friday) in West Burlington has been canceled because of rain and a less than promising forecast for later in the day.  The 500th event in series history and finale for the 33rd annual tour for IMCA Late Models now moves to Davenport Speedway to headline the Iowa Governor’s Cup program on Saturday, Sept. 28.  Pit gates open at 1 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 2 p.m. Hot laps are at 4 p.m. with racing to follow.  Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and teens, and free for kids 12 and under accompanying a paid adult. Opening night for Deery Series moves to Saturday at Maquoketa

DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 12) – Persistent cold and wet weather conditions have resulted in cancellation of tonight’s Rebel 5K Deery Brothers Summer Series event at Davenport Speedway. Opening night for the 33rd annual IMCA Late Model tour moves to Saturday, April 13 at Maquoketa Speedway, with night two of what is now a weekend doubleheader on Sunday, April 14 at Dubuque Speedway.  Both main events pay $2,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Maquoketa hosts the inaugural Hershel Roberts/Ray Guss Sr. Memorial on Saturday.  Pit gates open and Late Model pre-tech starts at 2 p.m. Saturday. The drivers’ meeting is at 4:10 p.m. and hot laps are at 4:30 p.m., with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students and free for ages 12 and under. Deery Series begins drive to 500th event with Davenport, Maquoketa, Dubuque dates

DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 4) – A rich weekend kicks off the Deery Brothers Summer Series’ history-making 33rd season.  Opening night takes the IMCA Late Model tour to Davenport Speedway for the $5,000 to win Rebel 5K next Friday, April 12. Nezworski nabs Deery finale, Kay tops tour, Hurst takes national IMCA Late Model prize

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 21) – Andy Nezworski won the main event, Justin Kay won the tour title and Jeremiah Hurst won the IMCA Late Model championship when the Deery Brothers Summer Series concluded Friday at Davenport Speedway. Nezworski led every lap of the 40-lap, $2,000 to win caution-free Governor’s Cup feature. Chuck Hanna got close in lapped traffic but couldn’t find a way around the leader. Kay, who’d won the IMCA Modified feature earlier in the program, and Ryan Dolan both passed Hanna on the final lap; ‘B’ feature winner and hard charger Tyler Bruening rounded out the top five. Rain cancels season championships at Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Aug. 24) – Sadly, rain has forced the Davenport Speedway to cancel to­night’s Season Championship racing program. The event will not be rescheduled. Promoter Bob Wagener reflected upon the situation. “It certainly is disappointing. Losing back-to-back races at the end of the regular season due to rain is tough, but it has happened before. All we can do now is congratulate the new track champions and pray for better weather for the Septem­ber specials.” Unofficial Davenport Speedway track champions for 2018 are Bryce Garnhart in the Eriksen’s Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds; Matt Ryan in the Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Models; and Brandon Setser in the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods. $750 to win feature at Davenport July 24 for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods 

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $750 to win their Mississippi Valley Fair show next Tuesday, July 24 at Davenport Speedway. A minimum of $75 will be paid to start and there is no entry fee for the draw/redraw show, held in conjunction with the World of Outlaws Late Models. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Iowa State, but no track points will be awarded. General admission is $25 and box seats are $30. More information about the Northern SportMod portion of the program will be available from the IMCA office.
