DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 9, 2025) — Davenport Speedway played host to a thrilling Friesen Performance IMCA Modified showdown Friday night, as drivers battled for a nice $1000 to win payday and courtesy of Midwest Recyclers. With extra cash and Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational eligibility on the line, every lap was fiercely contested — and Brandon Durbin of Colona, Illinois, made the most of it.
Durbin dominated his heat race to earn the pole for the 20-lap main event. Once the green flag dropped, he set a blistering pace and led every circuit to score his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of 2025. With the win he is now eligible to qualify for the Modified Invitational to be run at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s later this summer.
Second would go to Logan Veloz. Veloz started sixth and slowly moved forward during the second half of the race. Kyle Montgomery ran second early in the race, faded back, and then surged late to take third.
Tony Olson captured the win in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod class. Olson started twelfth and would not see the lead until lap 11. Once in front, Tony started to pull away from the field. He finished with a two second gap on second place Ryan Reed. Brad Salisberry was third. The victory was Olson’s third of the season at Davenport
Daniel Wauters made it back-to-back wins in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock class. Wauters started fifth and took the lead on lap 2 for his second victory in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Dan Mohr took second followed by Randy LaMar.
With curfew fast approaching, Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature was shortened. With twelve of the fifteen laps complete, Jon Padilla picked up his second win of the year at Davenport. Mike Morrow finished second, followed by Austin Gray.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Done Right TV. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $24.99/month. And don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Aug. 24) – Sadly, rain has forced the Davenport Speedway to cancel tonight’s Season Championship racing program. The event will not be rescheduled. Promoter Bob Wagener reflected upon the situation. “It certainly is disappointing. Losing back-to-back races at the end of the regular season due to rain is tough, but it has happened before. All we can do now is congratulate the new track champions and pray for better weather for the September specials.” Unofficial Davenport Speedway track champions for 2018 are Bryce Garnhart in the Eriksen’s Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds; Matt Ryan in the Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Models; and Brandon Setser in the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods. A change has been made to the Iowa Governor’s Cup on Friday, Sept. 21. The event originally slated for the half-mile, will be run on the quarter-mile track. The featured class is the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. Also racing will be IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and Street Stocks. By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 23, 2021) – Friday was Koehler Electric Season Opener at the Davenport Speedway. With extra money on the line in two divisions, the competition was intense. The IMCA Sunoco Late Models provided the closest finish of the evening. Their 25-lap feature started with Andy Nezworski grabbing the early lead from the pole. Nezworski built up a lead until the caution flags started to fly on lap eight. Chuck Hanna used the race’s final restart to propel himself up to second and then used the high side to reel in Nezworski. As the leaders encountered lapped traffic, Hanna drew alongside the leader. At the checkers, it was Nezworski by mere inches over Hanna. Justin Kay fended off Matt Ryan for a third place finish. Fred Remley was a distant fifth. Spencer Diercks led flag-to-flag in the IMCA Modified main. Diercks started on the outside pole and went directly to the top of the racetrack. The only thing to slow Spencer down was the four caution flags. Five different drivers took [Read More]
