By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Aug. 7) – Friday night the CJ Speedway fans were treated to another outstanding night of racing under near perfect weather conditions. Fans have come accustomed to seeing the very best in IMCA Sunoco Stock Car racing and Friday night was another excellent race. Twenty of Eastern Iowa’s very best IMCA Stock Car drivers took the green for their 20-lap feature with veteran Tom Cannon leading the way in the early going. A lot of position shuffling was going on behind Cannon as the CJ Speedway hot shoes were making their way to the front. Scott Jordan took the lead as the race neared halfway but had his hands full with a pack of drivers hounding him, among them Shane Richardson, Dustin Griffiths, Adam Bell and Jason See Jordan held the pack at bay in scoring his first-ever CJ Speedway IMCA Stock feature win. By Jerry Mackey  COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 31) – The month of July came to a close with another outstand­ing night of racing at CJ Speedway.  Mark Burgtorf of Quincy, Ill., has amassed a career that includes hundreds of wins but Friday saw Burgtorf score his first-ever win at Columbus Junction. Burgtorf took advantage of a front row start to lead the IMCA Modified feature flag to flag. Derrick Stewart challenged Burgtorf late in the main before settling for second.   The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars never disappoint at CJ and Friday night’s main was another outstand­ing feature event. Jim Redman led early while 16th starting Jason See was steadily mak­ing his way to the front. Two-, three- and sometimes four-wide racing thrilled the fans through­out the feature. See caught Redman late in the race and made the winning pass to continue his winning streak. By Jerry Mackey  COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 24) – Races on Friday at the CJ Speedway were the 2020 Louisa County Fair Races and took place on a beautiful night on another perfectly prepared track. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars never disappoint and the main event saw Jason See win for the second consecutive week, this time in very dramatic fashion. Howard Gordon Jr. led for several laps early before the lead pack swelled to five drivers. At the midway point at least four drivers had a legitimate shot at scoring the win. See advanced from his fifth position start and was holding the lead while Adam Bell was closing. See and Bell took the white flag in a dead heat for the lead. The two raced down the back chute with See out front but Bell was going to make one last charge. By Jerry Mackey  COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 17) – CJ Speedway fans were treated to a classic battle in Friday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock main event.  Twenty drivers took the green flag with young Austin Kemper setting the pace for the first half of the main event. While Kemper led, a fierce battle was being waged behind him. Jason See, who had advanced from the seventh position start, was able to break out of the pack of contenders and into second before moving by Kemper on lap 11. See went on to score the win over a hard-charging Adam Bell, who was looking to become a re­peat winner at CJ Speedway. Bell was able to get beside See on several occasions before setting for second as Johnny Spaw battled to the front from 11th. Cody Staley captured the mach-1 Sport Compact feature over Brad Havel and William Michel. 

By Jerry Mackey  COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 10) – A great field of drivers packed the infield at CJ Speedway on a beautiful Friday night for racing on July 10. The racing action was excellent all night on a perfectly prepared race track thanks to Larry Richardson.  Twenty-one drivers took the green in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and the Stock Cars lived up to their nickname of The Class Too Tough To Tame as fans were treated to three- and four-wide racing throughout the feature. Howard Gordon Jr. led early before Shane Richardson was able to break out of a pack of contenders to take the lead. Richardson held off the constant challenges by David Brandies in the late going to score the win by a slim margin. Brandies took second ahead of Jason Cook.  Cody Staley led the caution-free Mach-1 Sport Compact feature flag to flag. By Jerry Mackey  COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 3) – After a two week hiatus due to weather cancellations, racing returned to the CJ Speedway with an outstanding night of racing which saw 80 cars pack the infield.  The grand finale of the night that saw everything that a race track could offer was the IMCA Modi­fied main event. Twenty drivers took the green flag and veteran Steve Johnson ran out front until Jeff Larson was able to wrestle the lead away.  Front row starter Denny Eckrich ran in the lead pack the entire race, found the perfectly prepared track to his liking and made a late-race charge to take the lead from Larson as the laps wound down. Another driver on a late race charge was Derrick Stewart. When the checkers flew it was Eckrich taking the win with a slight margin over Stewart and Larson.
