Meyer, Albrant among winners at Boone Speedway

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (July 17) – You couldn’t have asked for better racing than the fans saw at the Boone Speedway on Saturday night. The 167 cars that checked into the track put on some of the best racing of the year with close finishes and exciting action throughout all classes. Nick Meyer in the IMCA Modifieds was a first-time winner at Boone, as was Nate Albrant in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Dillon Raffurty in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Eric Stanton returned to victory lane in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Devin Smith picked up his fourth regular season victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division. Smith too tough in Class Too Tough Too Tame at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 26) – David Smith was too tough to catch in The Class Too Tough To Tame Saturday night at Boone Speedway. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars rolled out for their 20-lap feature and polesitter Mike House was the early race leader, holding on until halfway when the 14th starting Smith took over. A couple of late race cautions were no bother to Smith as he kept his lead to the checkers and sealed the win. Brother Donavon Smith started 10th and took second and Mathew West was third. Bryan Zehm led all 15 laps of the IMCA STARS Mod Lite race. It was an epic battle behind him however, as Josh May, Randy Bryan, and Mike Kennedy duked it out. Zehm, Braaksma post first Boone wins of the season

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 19) – A pair of new faces visited victory lane Saturday as Boone Speedway continued its weekly racing series. Bryan Zehm went home the victor in the 15-lap IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Zehm led all but the opening lap on his way to victory. Mike Kennedy gave it a good try, but it was too little, too late in his attempt to catch the leader, and he had to be content with the runner up position. Joel Huggins was third. This was Zehm’s first win at the track in 2021. Johnathon Logue made it three wins in a row in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main. Kaylin Lopez came from 14th to finish as the runner up and Dusty Masolini was third. Up next was 20 laps of IMCA Modified feature racing. After the initial start was called back, the race would go caution free to the checkers with Ethan Braaksma in command the entire time. IMCA Super Nationals gets even bigger, better with STARS Mod Lites, new Stock Car All-Star Invitational

BOONE, Iowa – The IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s gets bigger and even better, with both STARS Mod Lites and the B & B Chassis All-Star Invitational for Stock Cars added to the schedule for the 39th annual event. By dividing Boone Speedway’s Prelude special into two days, STARS Mod Lites will crown the first champion of Super Nationals on Sunday, Sept. 5. Braathun takes first-ever Boone Speedway win

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 5) – Jon Braathun became a first-time Boone Speedway winner in the first Saturday night feature at Iowa’s Action Track. The IMCA STARS Mod Lite 15-lap feature was led from start to finish by Story City’s Braathun. Joel Huggins made it interesting at the finish when his slide under the leader out of the final corner fell just short and he had to settle for second. Third went to 10th place starter Mike Kennedy. It was another exciting IMCA Modified 20-lap feature that had the crowd cheering. Dylan Thornton grabbed the lead from Tim Love on lap 10 but then had to fend off the advances of the rapidly advancing Jimmy Gustin, Jake McBirnie, and Nick Roberts, who were locked into an intense battle for second. That battle resulted in some contact being made between McBirnie and Roberts which sent McBirnie out of the race while Roberts able to gather it back in and continue on. VINTON, Iowa – Thirty-six drivers are eligible to qualify for, and two are guaranteed starting spots in the inaugural B & B Chassis All-Star race for Stock Cars at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. It’s Roberts in a thriller at Boone, David Smith prevails in brotherly battle

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (May 29) – The racers came out in full force for Saturday night racing at the Boone Speedway with 169 cars packing the pits and all IMCA regular classes would find first time winners on the season. The IMCA STARS Mod Lites were in town for a national event series race, as part of the Corn Belt Clash. It was a thrilling finish to the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature that saw amazing crisscross moves during the race. Nick Roberts started sixth and had the top spot by lap four, content to let the pack behind sort itself out. Tim Ward came from 12th starting into second and began applying pressure quickly, and Kyle Brown was also in the picture. Then the show really began when Roberts and Ward made some spectacular crisscross moves out of turn two with Brown sticking his nose into the mix as well. Berry among first-time winners at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (May 22) – It was another weekly racing series night Saturday at the Boone Speedway, with 146 cars checking into the pits. The defending IMCA Modified national champion, Tom Berry Jr., was in the house tonight, wheeling a brand new car. He hadn’t lost a step from his successful season last year either, as he sailed home to another win. He had to fight around early race leader Russ Dickerson, taking command just before the halfway mark of the event, and then distanced himself from the pack as the checkers flew. It was a hard fought battle behind Berry, with Nick Roberts taking second over 14th place starter Cory Sauerman, Joel Bushore and Dickerson. Three Memorial Weekend Cornbelt Clash dates for IMCA STARS Mod Lites

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Memorial Weekend Cornbelt Clash dates take IMCA STARS Mod Lites to Marshalltown Speedway, Boone Speedway and Stuart Speedway for $500 to win features each night. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start each May 28, 29 and 30 feature with a $30 entry fee each night. Marshalltown opens the gates at 5:15 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gates at Boone open at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday racing starts at 6 p.m. and on Sunday, gates at Stuart open at 5 p.m. and racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps. The Yoshimura bonus will be paid on Sunday, with $250 going to the winner, $150 to the runner-up and $100 to the third place driver.
