First season wins at Boone go to Ward, Jerovetz, Sachau, Knutson, Zehm

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (May 14, 2022) – It was week number three of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season at Boone Speedway on Saturday night and there were new winners for 2022 in all divisions. Tim Ward captured his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Troy Jerovetz won in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Jake Sachau took the checkers in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Eric Knutson visited victory lane for the first time this season in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division and it was Bryan Zehm taking his first win of the year in IMCA STARS Mod Lite action. In the STARS Mod Lite 15-lap feature, Zehm caught early leader Ben George and took over the top spot at lap six, never to look back. Lapped traffic was no issue for Zehm as he held the pack at bay to capture the win. Joel Huggins, who had won the two previous races, started 10th and finished as the runner-up. Boone Frostbuster wins to Ward, Kuehl, Murty, Smith

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (April 9, 2022) – Four drivers wrote their names into the history books with IMCA Frostbuster wins Saturday at Boone Speedway. One hundred and ninety cars took to Iowa’s Action Track and checkers flew for Tim Ward in the IMCA Modifieds, Taylor Kuehl in the IMCA Northern SportMods and a couple 2021 Super Nationals champions, Dallon Murty in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Mike Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Forty-three ground-pounding Modifieds were on hand and it was defending IMCA national champion Jeff Larson leading the opening laps. By lap 11, however, Ward had grabbed the top spot. Ward, already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, never relinquished his lead as he motored home to the win. Jeremy Mills had to be content with second. Boone, Stuart Frostbusters on for this weekend

BOONE, Iowa (April 6, 2022) – Forecasts are promising for Frostbuster specials this weekend at Boone Speedway and Stuart Speedway. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $500 to win, IMCA Northern SportMods for $400 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $250 to win Saturday, April 9 at Boone and Sunday, April 10 at Stuart. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance Iowa State points will be awarded both nights. Mach-1 Sport Compacts are also on the Sunday card at Stuart. Entry fees are $30 for Modifieds, $25 for Stock Cars and $20 for both SportMods and Hobby Stocks. Pit passes are $30. The pit opens at Boone at 2 p.m. and racing is at 5 p.m. Stuart opens the pits at 2 p.m. and starts racing at 4:30 p.m. IMCA.TV broadcasts the Boone Frostbuster.

Mike Smith continues family tradition in becoming IMCA Super Nationals champion

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – Another Smith, another IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s championship. Seventeen-year-old Mike Smith of Lake City became the first of the next generation of IMCA’s most successful racing family to become an IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s champion, winning the Saturday night Hobby Stock main event and $2,000 at Boone Speedway. “It’s pretty cool. Becerra drives homebuilt SportMod to first IMCA Super Nationals crown

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – The Northern SportMod Austen Becerra built in his garage back home in Carthage, Ill., put him in victory lane twice over the course of six days at Boone Speedway. The first occasion followed the Prelude feature on Sept. 5. The second came after Becerra won the Saturday night IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s championship. “This is pretty big – everyone dreams of winning Super Nationals. Stock Car champion Dallon Murty races into IMCA Super Nationals record book

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – A straight forward strategy sent Dallon Murty straight into the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s record book. Get to the front and stay there. The 16-year, eight-month old nicknamed ‘The Game Changer’ led the last 19 laps in winning Saturday’s Stock Car main event at Boone Speedway, becoming the youngest champion – by two months – crowned in the storied history of America’s Racin’ Vacation. BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 11) – Cody Laney can remember when going to watch the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s was pretty cool. Winning the Saturday night main event at America’s Racin’ Vacation was even cooler. The Torrance, Calif., driver led all 40 laps in the final race of the 39th annual Super Nationals, earning $7,000 and racing immortality. “Two years ago I ran third. Last year I was second and people were telling me I was going to win it, but you never know because this is racing. Engine auction adds $29,000 to Super Nationals main event purse

BOONE, Iowa – A rich Saturday night of racing ended with the auction of champions’ engines adding another $29,000 to the main event purse paid at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Stock Car champion Dallon Murty’s engine sold for $7,500, so each of the other 29 starters in that event get another $258.62 in addition to their purse shares. Modified champion Cody Laney’s engine also gaveled at $7,500. The other 32 starters in that race each receive $234.38. Engines of Northern SportMod champion Austen Becerra and Hobby Stock champion Mike Smith both sold for $7,000. Each of the other 29 starters in those main events receives $241.38. Laney, Becerra and Smith all received new crate engines from Karl Kustoms. Murty received an engine built by Midstate Machine with parts contributed by IMCA and event sponsors including Speedway Motors, Comp Cams, Edelbrock, Manley, Motorsports Warehouse, Summit, Engine Parts Warehouse, EQ Cylinder Heads and Kevko. All auction proceeds have been mailed from the IMCA home office.

Raffurty, Zehm conquer STARS Mod Lite Super Nationals qualifiers

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 4) – Dillon Raffurty started and ended his night in victory lane while Bryan Zehm ended his own night in the track where he started his racing career. Both topped STARS Mod Lite qualifying features as the division made its IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s debut during the Saturday Wild Rose Casino Prelude at Boone Speedway. Raffurty had won the first race of champions qualifying heat, then started the first qualifying feature from outside row three. Dustin Rude led the first five laps before Andrue Halpain and Clayton Hogie got together in turn three to bring the race to a complete stop. Ward, Dallon Murty deliver Saturday Prelude wins

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 4) – Tim Ward and Dallon Murty will precede the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s with Saturday night Prelude feature wins. Ward led the last 21 of 30 laps in winning the IMCA Modified feature and $1,080; Murty caught Michael Jaennette with seven circuits left in the 30-lap finale at Boone Speedway, earning $800. One hundred and thirty Modifieds and 115 Stock Cars saw Prelude action while 49 STARS Mod Lites ran race of champions heats and their first night of Super Nationals qualifying. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, Ward started sixth, was running second by lap seven and was half a car length ahead of Joel Bushore when lap nine was scored. The only caution came on lap 23 to erase Ward’s big lead and he was just fast enough coming out of the final turn to outrun Cody Laney to the checkers.
