BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 24, 2022) – The Union Pacific brings its job recruitment efforts to a town with rich railroad and dirt track racing histories.
“This is a great opportunity to get out there at a great event and meet with a lot of people,” said Senior Recruiter Miranda Walters, who will help staff the Union Pacific Railroad booth on Manufacturers’ Row at Boone Speedway throughout the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
“One of the track maintenance workers in the rail yard at Boone suggested it. He told us this was an event attended by a lot of hard-working people,” she explained. “We are looking for employees at all levels who can bring unique ideas and contributions to the company. Those are the kind of people we want to talk to.”
The Union Pacific is hiring in all 23 of the states it serves, looking to fill openings in everything from trained crew to corporate office positions.
Walters will be making her first visit to Boone as a Union Pacific employee herself and will be at the track from night two of the Prelude on Sunday, Sept. 4 through championship Saturday Sept. 10.
“There’s a ton of railroad history in Boone,” she said.
Along with answering questions about jobs and careers with the railroad, Union Pacific representatives will hand out UP-branded swag boxes.
The company promotes a number of hiring initiatives, including one for assisting veterans in their return to the civilian work force, and second chance hiring.
“Manufacturers’ Row is the ideal place for many companies in and outside the dirt track racing industry to recruit new employees,” said IMCA Marketing Integration and Sponsorship Director Carson Becker-Gramm. “Kudos to the Union Pacific for thinking outside the box and recognizing the potential of being part of Super Nationals.”
