Cottage Grove Speedway hosts Feb. 21 swap meet

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Whether you are interested in motorsports or just like to tinker on hot rods, Cottage Grove Speedway will host a swap meet on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. The swap meet will be held next to the race track at the Western Oregon Exposition Fairgrounds. This is a great chance to pick up some parts for working on the race car or that restoration job in your shop. Admission into the event is free but if you would like a selling space it is $30. Space is limited so contact CGS General Manager Heather Boyce at 541 729-8666. Pre-registration forms for 2015 will be available to Cottage Grove Speedway drivers who plan on attending the swap meet.

Whitwell, Marriott rule IMCA Modifieds at Winter Nationals

SOMERTON, Ariz. (Feb. 6-7) – R.C. Whitwell and Hunter Marriott proved the fastest in big IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified fields at Cocopah Speedway’s Winter Nationals opening weekend. Whitwell raced from 12th starting to win Friday’s main event, which drew 65 entries. Marriott scored the Saturday checkers, which had 54 entries. Both Modified features paid $1,000 to win; Marriott was already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. In all, drivers from 18 states and Canada vied at the fourth annual event. Manny Baldiviez and Andrew Altenburg were IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winners, Scott Shaw and Leonard Manos topped IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock mains and Timmy Reese and Sean Callens topped Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod features. Red River Speedway opens with inaugural IMCA Invasion special

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Red River Speedway opens the new race season with the inaugural Red River IMCA Invasion on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13 and 14. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars race for $700 to win both nights. Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods chase $600 top checks while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars contend for $500 to win each night. Minimum start money is $150 for the Sprints, $100 for the Modifieds and $50 for both Southern SportMods and Stock Cars. Performance Distributors awards new for IMCA Sport Compact state champions

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – More IMCA drivers will earn product awards in 2015 courtesy of Performance Distributors. Perris Auto Speedway sets eight race dates for IMCA Modifieds

PERRIS, Calif. – A California track with all the bells and whistles will have IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds on eight Saturday night race programs, too. Opening night for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Perris Auto Speedway is March 14. IMCA Modifieds had run on the half-mile semi-banked clay oval, located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds, as recently as 2005. Several local drivers asked promoter Don Kazarian about bringing the sanctioned division back late in 2014. “We averaged 22 Modifieds with a high of 29 last year so car count was not an issue. Information meeting for Minnesota tracks to be held Feb. 22

BAXTER, Minn. – A transitional rules and information meeting has been scheduled for drivers of three Minnesota race tracks. Representatives from Princeton Speedway, North Central Speedway in Brainerd and Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon will be at the meeting, set for Sunday, Feb. 22. IMCA representatives will also be present at the 3 p.m. meeting, which will be held at Arrowwood Lodge, 6967 Lake Forest Road in Baxter. Limited seating will be available and the meeting is open to drivers only. The 2015 season will be the first under the IMCA banner for the Brainerd and Princeton ovals. Buffalo River Race Park will be entering its second season as an IMCA sanctioned facility.

Sunoco Race Fuels renews divisional title roles for IMCA Stocks and Hobbies, plus Deery cash awards

2015 season is second in five-year pact with Mach-1 as title sponsor for IMCA Sport Compacts

ABBOTT, Texas (Feb. 4) – The 2015 race season is the second in a five-year agreement making Mach-1 of Abbott, Texas, title sponsor of IMCA’s Sport Compact division. Mach-1 will provide a portion of the $1,000 point fund to be paid to top 10 drivers in final national standings for the 4-cylinder class in 2015. The Gary Mach-owned company began giving Sport Compact contingencies in 2009, first put its name on the division in 2011 and inked the new five-year contract in 2014. Sport Compact champions were crowned at 41 tracks in 10 states in last year.
