Green matches top payday with repeat run to Hancock County Fair Stock Car checkers

BRITT, Iowa (July 24) – Winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car headliner at Hancock County Speedway’s fair the first time was special. Winning that event, and another $4,000, a second time was even better for Derek Green. Green repeated the big payday at Britt on Friday night. He had the fastest car among 55 entries from six states, including Texas, and beat Kyle Vanover to the line by a couple car lengths. Kevin Opheim, who’d pocketed $2,000 just the night before at Kossuth County Speedway, 17th starting Randy Brands and Dan Mackenthun, completed the top five. Green had started fourth and was running at the front of the 26-car field by the third of 25 laps. He built a straightaway lead that disappeared with a rash of late cautions. Dream season continues for Olmstead

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (July 26) – Taming the Dawson County Raceway oval with authority Sunday evening were hotshoes Mike Densberger, Steve Kempt, Casey Werkmeister and Jacob Olmstead. Continuing his dream season, Olmstead led the final two laps to win the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Earning second-place accolades was Kyle Bond and Caleb Hetrick worked his way through heavy traffic for third. Densberger cruised to the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory after taking the lead on lap eight. Cole Hodges paced the first seven circuits and ended as the runner-up. Round 2 voting starts for Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational

BOONE, Iowa (July 29) – Fourteen more IMCA Modified drivers will be elected to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational field, in voting that starts today (Wednesday) through the IMCA Facebook page. Round two candidates all won 40-point features held between June 19 and July 16. Voting continues until Aug. 5. The drivers with the top two vote totals in each of the five regions and four at-large candidates advance to the Friday, Sept. 11 Invitational during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Completing the starting field of 30 will be the All-Star candidates with the highest national point total and the most 40-point feature wins as of Sept. 4 not already elected and who are competing at Super Nationals. I-88 Speedway hosts IMCA Empire State Series on Friday

AFTON, N.Y. (July 29) – I-88 Speedway is next on the IMCA Empire State Series schedule this Friday, July 31. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds chase a $500 top check in the fifth of eight tour installments this season. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 9-15, and free for eight and under. Pit passes are $30. Point leader Eddie Sites is the only repeat series winner thus far; Michigan visitor A.J. Ward and Brad Sites have each won once. Dart is King of the Ring feature winner at Oshkosh

By Dave Panske OSHKOSH, Wis. (July 24) – Todd Dart delivered the Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modified feature win in round two of the King of the Ring Series Friday at Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway. Dart caught Mike Wedelstadt for the lead on lap 16 and drove to his first local checkers since Sept. 7 of 2013. The final round of the series is Friday, Aug. 28. The Total Power Sales IMCA Stock Car main event saw Travis Van Straten drive away from the pack and collect his second straight and sixth local feature win overall this season. Colten Van Hierden checked out and collected his second straight and fifth local Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod checkers of the season.

Antioch checkers fly for Giuliani

ANTIOCH, Calif. (July 25) – Anthony Giuliani was tops in the Brentwood Auto Parts IMCA Northern SportMod division, with Patti Ryland of Brentwood challenging him to the checkered flag Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Fred Ryland was challenging Giuliani for the lead when the two tangled in the third turn. “I don’t know what happened,” Giuliani said from victory lane. “We just tangled. I wasn’t about to give up my position like the last time we tangled.” Giuliani lost his bid for the lead when he raced alongside Fred Ryland in the last IMCA SportMod feature. This time, Ryland went to the wall, only to come back on the restart, crash and lose his hood. Ryland finished ninth. Then Giuliani had another Ryland to contend with. Patti Ryland moved up, passing Al Sotomayor and Paul Mulder to take second.

Stone wins again at Merced

(July 26) – After grabbing the lead early in the 20-lap Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event, Paul Stone pulled away by a wide margin to grab his second win of the season Sunday at Merced Speedway, The win came aboard the Jack Mounce-owned no. 44 car as his own car is being used for special events this season. Bob Williamson was a season-best second ahead of Alex Wilson and Kyle Wilson. Running a smooth race on the bottom groove, Mark Odgers won his first 20-lap Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature of the season.

Cassell wins at Willamette

Boulware prevails at Raceway Park

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 26) – The KISS 107 FM IMCA Sport Compacts had a first-time winner Sunday at Raceway Park as Cody Boulware led flag to flag for his first trip to victory lane. Chasing Boulware at the end were Aaron Edwardson and Cody Thompson. John Cain took the win in the MOPAR IMCA Hobby Stock feature after getting by early leader David Miller for a lead he never relinquished. Finishing third was Aaron Shearn. Rusty Montagne extended his point lead atop the Skyline Casino IMCA Northern SportMod division by taking the feature win over Karl Brewer and Darin Roepke. The Casey’s General Store IMCA Stock Car field went at it for 16 laps with Chris Mills coming out on top, followed by Josh Ruschmann and Bo Lundquist. LeMieux doubles up at Thunderhill

Not only did he rank in 135th place out of 160 players at the M.A.C softball tournament, he decided to double up on feature wins at Thunderhill Raceway on Sunday night. Lemieux earned wins in both the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and local street stock events. A lone caution would fly on lap 11 of the Stock Car main and allowed LeMieux to come into play. He rode around Suchocki on top and cruised over the final laps. Other winners included Tyler Hackett in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, Jarred VanLaanen in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Dave Schmidt in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.
