Kilgore is killer in Luxemburg opener 

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. (May 6) – One hundred and forty-five cars entered the pits at Luxemburg Speedway for the season opener Friday night. Shawn Kilgore stalked his prey and eventually started the season where he left off in 2015, taking home top honors with an Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win. Kilgore ran to the front and reached leader Luke Lemmens on lap 12, then went to the outside and grabbed the lead on the next lap. Lemmens was able to stay close for a couple of laps but in the end it was the Kilgore show. Lemmens finished second with Brian Mullen third. Mike Mashl ran to fourth with Benji LaCrosse rounding out the top five. The race went caution free. Toland scores big win at Farley Speedway 

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (May 6) – Racing action resumed on Friday night at Farley Speedway follow­ing a week off due to wet weather. A great field of cars provided an excellent night of racing on a beautiful early May evening. Rob Toland has his sights set on a national championship in the IMCA Late Model division in 2016 and a trip to Farley was another step in that direction for the long-time driver. Toland out­raced 19 other competitors in the 25-lap Out Pace Racing Products feature and raced to his 399th career feature win. Jon Merfeld had a great run on Friday night in crossing under the checkers in second ahead of Tyler Bruening. Yarie, Van Straten, Schneider have the horses at Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. (May 6) – It is Kentucky Derby weekend, but horsepower of a different kind was in abundance Friday night at  Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway with a solid field of 131 teams entering the night’s competition on a perfect night for racing in Northeastern Wisconsin. A caution on the opening lap of the Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modifieds was the only blemish on a great feature event.  On the final lap Kevin Baldry, looking for his first-ever feature win in the division, held the inside line and Marcus Yarie pulled outside and alongside through the fi­nal turns. Yarie had a bit more momentum out of the turn and won the drag race to the finish line winning his first SpeedZone feature of the season by less than a car length. New car takes Murray to victory lane at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 6) – After Mother Nature ruined last week’s racing at Mar­shalltown Speedway, a great field of cars was eager for racing Friday evening for Cliff Chambers Memorial Night. Jacob Murray put his new car to the test and at the end of the night had it sitting in victory lane. Murray won the 20-lap Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature, outrunning 26 other contenders. Murray started on the pole and led the entire race, maneuvering the slicked up track to take the win.  Kyle Brown came from eighth starting spot to finish in second, just ahead of Ricky Thornton Jr. in third. Werner goes flag to flag at Davenport 

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 6) – Matt Werner led all 20 laps in winning Friday night’s Eriksen IMCA Modified main event at Davenport Speedway. Ray Cox Jr. was second and Jake Bowman took third, while Mitch Morris rocketed from 15th starting spot to fourth. Bruce Hanford completed the first five. Thirty-two Modifieds were entered. The Hawkeye Auto IMCA Northern SportMods saw multiple cautions in their feature which ended early. Tony Olson grabbed the lead on lap seven and held on to the checkers. Jarrett Franzen and Andrew Burk both led early in the race before finishing second and third, respectively. Tim Current and Jake Morris completed the top five.

Team Petersilie celebrates $1,000 win and free T-shirt following Longdale’s IMCA Night 

LONGDALE, Okla. (May 4) – Mike Petersilie raced to the biggest win of his career at Longdale Speedway’s IMCA Night on Wednesday. As a bonus, his daughters Lexus, Hailey and Kassy stayed up late to watch the event on IMCA.TV and won a Tweet Your Seat contest T-shirt. Petersilie drew the pole for the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event and had to regain the front spot from Kevin Sustaire late in a contest that ran caution-free all 20 laps. The $1,000 checkers, the top win money-wise of Petersilie’s 17 seasons on the track, put him on the ballot for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Sustaire, Clay Sellard, 11th starting Cole Traugott and Ken Schrader rounded out the top five. Second annual IMCA Summer Storm Dirt Series starts Saturday 

NORFOLK, Neb. – Drivers in four IMCA divisions compete at as many Nebraska venues over the course of the eight-date Summer Storm Dirt Series. The second annual series for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts opens Saturday, May 7 at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points, but no champions’ bonus points will be awarded. No registration fees will be charged. There are no point fund for the series, designed to encour­age drivers to travel to the different tracks, but trophies and contingencies will be given. All shows will be draw/redraw. IMCA Modifieds have eight $1,000 to win races at American Valley

QUINCY, Calif. – The first of eight $1,000 to win weekly feature events for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds this season at American Valley Speedway is Saturday, May 14. Other qualifying events for 2016 or 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballots at the Quincy, Calif., speedplant will be Saturday, June 18; Friday and Saturday, June 24 and 25; Saturdays July 16 and 30; Sunday, Aug. 14; and Saturday, Aug. 27. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are on each program. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. on race day. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. each day. Seymour sets May 8, May 11 test and tune sessions

SEYMOUR, Wis. – Work continues to progress as the 2016 season quickly approaches at Seymour Raceway Park. The test and tune on Sunday, May 8 will take place from 5-8 p.m. Another has been added and will be held Wednesday, May 11, also from 5-8 p.m. Both sessions will be open to drivers in any division wishing to take laps on the new track surface to get ready for the season opener. The official season opener is set for Sunday, May 15 with racing at 6 p.m. WAPL 105.7 FM will be on hand with a live remote from the track from beginning at 4 p.m. Joe Verdegan will do a Life in the Past Lane book signing and will be joined by Seymour alumni Roger Paul, J.J.
