Lap money, cash bonuses add more than $6,000 at Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Drivers competing in the Sept. 5-10 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s will take home more than $6,000 in lap money and cash bonuses. The first bonus of the week will be the $25 per lap led paid by Centex on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 5 to the winner of the Southern SportMod main event. Both Modified qualifying feature winners each night Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Sept. 7, 8 and 9 get $100 bonuses from Derr Farms. Malvern Trust and Savings Bank provides $500 toward the purse for Thursday’s non-qualifier Dash for Cash Deery Brothers Summer Series feature. Gray Machine & Welding of Rock Island, Ill., pays $25 to the frontrunner for each of 30 laps of the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational Friday evening. Bassett aces SportMod main at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 20) – Saturday’s Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Arlington Raceway went flag to flag with Eric Bassett at the helm the entire distance to win his first-ever feature. Tony Rialson tried to gain on Bassett but couldn’t get the job done and settled for second ahead of Eric Larson. Jeff Coon led the distance to win the MN 93 IMCA Modified main. Justin Allen took the lead following an early restart and never looked back as he led the 95.7 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to the finish. The B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature went flag to flag and was an awesome event. Nick Helmbrecht led the first five circuits before eighth starting Dean Cornelius motored by and motored to the checkers. Cory Probst won another Premier Logistics IMCA Hobby Stock feature and Kyren Porter topped the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts.

Veteran McGee scores IMCA Modified win at Lee County

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (Aug. 19) – Veteran Dean McGee picked up his first local Budweiser IMCA Modified feature win of the seson Friday at Lee County Speedway. Jardin Fuller used his front starting spot to grab the early lead over Levi Smith and Jerad Fuller. Action up front was slowed on lap seven when Bill Roberts Jr. and Jeff Waterman got together and spun to bring out the yellow. On the restart, Fuller got into the guardrail in turn three which allowed McGee to slip past for the top spot. While McGee started to pull away from the field, Roberts and Waterman were working their way back towards the front. By the time Roberts worked himself into the runner up spot, McGee had built a straight-away lead. Without a late race caution there was no catching McGee, as he went on to pick up his first win of the season at the track. Roberts was second and Dennis LaVeine was third. World class purse paid at Sept. 5-10 Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Super might not be adjective enough to describe the purse shares and contingency awards drivers competing at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s will earn over the course of the 34th annual event. When 800-plus drivers from coast to coast and border to border exit Boone Speedway, they’ll have earned shares of an approximate $285,000. Tech inspection precedes Sunday practice, tailgating

BOONE, Iowa – There will be plenty to see, do and enjoy on the Boone Speedway grounds even before opening night of the 34th annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The tech inspection process introduced in 2014 and well-received again last year will be continued. Beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod and Southern SportMod drivers are encouraged to go to the lineup board behind the pitside grandstand and get their inspection sheets and hardcards as soon as they arrive with their race car. Drivers will be called over the PA system for staging and then sent to the inspection area in groups of 20. Pre-tech for those three divisions runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. A $10 pit pass fee will be refunded to everyone who exits the pit area by 4:30 p.m. An open practice session for all divisions is from 5-7 p.m. and has a $10 admission for those who did not purchase a pit pass. Zap zips to first Laurel Highlands checkers

(Aug. 20) – The story of the night had to have been the popular win of veteran Joe Zap, who led all 20 laps of the green to checkers main event when the Laurel Highlands IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars traveled to Hesston Five Star Speedway. Zap and Ron Aurand brought the field to green with Zap charging into the lead followed by Aurand, Greg Dobrosky and Scott Lutz with Reed Thompson and Drew Ritchey in hot pursuit. Aurand gave chase all the time as he stayed close to Zap but was not able to reel him in.
