Pospisil paces Sport Compacts at Off Road

(Aug. 27) – Plenty of action could be found on the track Saturday at Off Road Speedway, starting with Shannon Pospisil’s Mach-1 Sport Compact win. Pospisil moved into the lead during the third lap while coming out of turn four and survived a green, white, checkered finish following the race’s only caution. Ramsey Meyer, who finished second to Pospisil Thursday in Columbus, did so again Saturday night while Codie Mielke took third. Norfolk Catholic High School senior Gage Koch won for the second time in his career, leading all 15 laps of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Midweek checkers pay big for DeYoung

AUBURN, Mich. (Aug. 24) – Myron DeYoung raced his way onto the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and picked up a bonus doing it at Tri-City Motor Speedway’s midweek special. DeYoung earned $1,225 for his Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified victory and picked up bonus money on top of that check for ending A.J. Ward’s winning streak. The IMCA Modifieds had 28 drivers check in for the opportunity to win big money by winning their 40-lap feature. Todd Matheson and Chaz Pray brought the field to the initial green flag. Matheson set the early pace before Matt Szecsodi reeled him in and made the pass by lap nine. Defending champion DeYoung eventually overtook Szecsodi just past the halfway point of the race. The 12th starting Ward was having difficulty getting to the front but by the closing laps found himself in the top five. Southern Oregon special boasts $5,000 prize for IMCA Modifieds

WHITE CITY, Ore. – The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified winner of Southern Oregon Speedway’s 21st annual Lon Skinner Memorial earns a hefty $5,000. The Sunday, Sept. 4 main event pays a minimum of $500 to each of the 24 starters and is a qualifier for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Modifieds also race for $600 to win in their Saturday, Sept. 3 feature. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for top checks of $400 on Saturday and $600 on Sunday. Early registration and practice is Friday, Sept. 2 at White City. Entry fee for the Modifieds is $200 or $250 at the gate. Transponders are required and must be furnished by the driver. Transponders are mandatory for all Modifieds, Stock races

BOONE, Iowa – Transponders are required again for all Modified and Stock Car competitors at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The electronic scoring devices will be used in all races for the two divisions Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 7-10. Drivers will be able to use their own MyLaps/ABM compatible transponder at Boone Speedway or rent one for $30 for the week. Transponders will be available in the pre-tech inspection tent and a driver’s license or credit card will be held for deposit. Transponders will also be required for the Thursday, Sept. 8 Deery Brothers Summer Series Late Model main event, qualifying and last-chance features on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods, and Saturday main events for SportMods and Hobby Stocks. The devices will be installed at no charge to those drivers. MyLaps remains the official timing and scoring system of IMCA and Super Nationals.

Three honorary starters assist with Saturday check presentation to Hope For The Warriors

BOONE, Iowa – The three honorary starters for last-chance Modified features will also assist with the Saturday afternoon, Sept. 10 check presentation to Hope For the Warriors during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Ankeny-based Casey’s General Store, the presentation sponsor for Super Nationals, donates $10 for each heat race won by a Modified, Late Model, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod, Southern SportMod or Sport Compact driver displaying a Casey’s decal between Sept. 5 and Sept. 9. Hanson looks to give back, and take home Late Model trophy from Super Nationals

CAPE CARTERET, N.C. – Travis Hanson waved the green flag at last year’s IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. He wants to take home a trophy from this year’s version of America’s Racin’ Vacation. The senior director of sports and recreation of Hope For The Warriors and a 22-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Hanson was one of three honorary starters for Modified last-chance features on the final day of the 2015 Super Nationals. Sample, Ward complete Fast Shafts All-Star field

BOONE, Iowa – Cory Sample and A.J. Ward will complete the Friday, Sept. 9 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational starting field. Sample, from Winnemucca, Nev., has the highest national point total among Modified drivers on the All-Star ballot who have pre-registered for the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Ward makes the trip to Boone Speedway from Ionia, Mich. Reed in right place at right time for PASS win at Clinton County

MILL HALL, Pa. (Aug. 26) – Reed Thompson was running third at the right time in Friday’s Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Clinton County Motor Speedway. Tylor Cochran had moved right on the back of leader Scott Lutz with two circuits to go in the 20-lapper for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars. The white flag was out and going into the second turn, the two made contact with Lutz rolling and Cochran spinning. Reeser sprints to Port Royal checkers

PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Aug. 27) – Once he got to the front, there was no catching Tyler Reeser in Saturday’s Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Port Royal Speedway. Drew Ritchey drove from his fourth starting spot into the lead on the fourth lap of the 18-lap main event for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars, overtaking Scott Ellerman for control. Ritchey threatened to run away for his first-ever oval victory but a caution bunched the field and placed Jeff Miller and Reeser on his tail for the restart. Reeser pounced on Miller for second at the new green and then blasted past Ritchey for control a lap later.
