Lagroon, Grabouski are IMCA Modified winners at Salina’s Mid-America Clash 

SALINA, Kan. (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) – When Mid-America Clash checkers flew at Salina Speedway, Corey Lagroon and Jordan Grabouski both went home with $1,500 checks for their Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature wins. Lagroon worked his way up from seventh in topping the Friday night feature, passing Derrick Brown following a restart after midway in the 25-lapper to earn a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Grabouski, the 2016 national champion, also used a restart to his advantage on Saturday, motoring by Lagroon with 10 circuits left. “Friday was my fifth win at Salina this season,” noted Lagroon. “There were a couple late yellows and Derrick made it close. KENNEDALE, Texas (Oct. 1) – After he got caught up at work, Josh McGaha couldn’t be caught at Kennedale Speedway Park’s Showdown main event for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. “I wasn’t going to go but we finally got caught up at work,” said McGaha, who earned $1,500 along with a spot on the ballot for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational for the Saturday check­ers. “It turned out to be a good weekend all the way around. They had a good crowd, there was good competition and we got some good luck that played into our hands.” Crewman Jay Grimes had encouraged McGaha to make another racing weekend of it and three-hour tow was rewarded with a bookend trophy to the hardware they took home in 2012. Budweiser Nationals boasts Oct. 7, 8 $1,500 to win IMCA Modified features at Bakersfield 

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Oct. 4) – A pair of $1,500 to win features for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds are on tap at Bakersfield Speedway’s 31st annual Budweiser Nationals this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8. Both 40-lap features are 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events and pay a minimum of $100 to start. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods begin qualifying on Friday. They’ll race 30 laps for $1,500 to win on Saturday. The complete program for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars totes a $600 to win feature and will be run Saturday. KIRKWOOD, N.Y. (Oct. 4) – The Atomicwraps.com IMCA Empire State Series sees its final checkers of 2016 when the tour for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds travels to Five Mile Point Speedway for an Oct. 8 show. Saturday’s 20-lap main event pays $450 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. Brad Sites of Monroeton, Pa., brings the point lead to Kirkwood for the finale; Matt Cole of Vestal and James Cornell of Port Crane were winners of the first two series events held at 5MP this season. Hogge sails to IMCA Modified sweep at Ocean’s Pat Pettit Memorial special

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) – Bobby Hogge IV found himself riding with an uneasy feeling of déjà vu late in the Pat Pettit Memorial main event at Ocean Speedway. But after working his way through lapped traffic, Hogge backed up his $1,003 Friday night win at Watsonville with the $3,003 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event checkers on Saturday. “Last year I had about a half a lap lead before a late restart and Alex Stanford passed me,” he said. “This year I started 11th, got to the lead and was able to get through lapped traffic. After that it was smooth sailing.” Hogge ran three-wide with front-row starters Stanford and Nick DeCarlo for the lead, catching Stanford first and then driving past DeCarlo two laps later. URSS 2016 Colorado Region Championship up for grabs at Byers

BYERS, Colo. – The final race of the 2016 United Rebel Sprint Series at Colorado Motor Sports Park will determine the 2016 Colorado Champion this Saturday night, Oct. 8. Current point leader and winner of the last race at Byers, Zach Blurton leads the standings by a slim four point margin over 2015 national rookie of the year Austin McLean. Justin Medlock is 20 points behind Blurton holding down the third spot. Current Colorado and national rookie point leader Scott Rhoades holds a 22-point lead over fifth place Luke Lucero. Positions sixth through eighth are separated by 12 points. Mark Walinder holds the sixth spot with Todd Plemons 10 points behind in seventh and teammate Scott Cochran two points back of Plemons. $5,000 is top IMCA Modified prize at Oct. 6-8 RPM Fall Nationals

HAYS, Kan. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modi­fieds race for $5,000 to win and a minimum of $400 to start their main event at RPM Speedway’s Oct. 6-8 Fall Na­tionals fueled by Casey’s. That feature is a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Also on the card at Hays are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars racing for $3,000 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $2,000, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $1,500 and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $300. IMCA announces 2016 national champions

VINTON, Iowa (Sept. 30) – Four of the 2016 national champions announced today by IMCA won’t have to google driving directions to get to the national awards banquet. They’ve been there before. Jordan Grabouski of Beatrice, Neb., won the national Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified crown for the second time while Mike Nichols of Harlan and Shannon Anderson of Des Moines both won career sixth championships in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock divisions, respectively. Nate Coopman of Mankato topped national Mach-1 Sport Compacts for the third straight year and for the fourth time in his career. First-time national champions are Andy Shouse of Mustang, Okla., in the IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car division, Tony Olson of Cedar Rapids in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Jeffrey Abbey of Comanche, Texas, in the Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. Norman County, Red River Valley Speedway add IMCA Stock Cars to 2017 lineups

ADA, Minn. ­– IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will be new to weekly race programs at Norman County Raceway and at Red River Valley Speedway in 2017. Norman County is a Thursday venue located in Ada, Minn.; Red River Valley Speedway is in West Fargo, N.D., 50 miles to the south and west, and hosts weekly races on Friday. “We have had drivers asking about sanctioning Stock Cars with IMCA.
