Bassett continuing Stock Car, SportMod awards in 25th IMCA sponsorship season

BURLINGTON, Wis. – Another of IMCA’s longest tenured sponsors will be recognized with an award of its own this season. 2019 marks the 25th year of IMCA sponsorship by Bassett Racing Wheel. The Burlington, Wis., manufacturer will again give sets of four wheels to IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod national champions. Track champions in the same divisions all receive $60 product certificates, applicable in the purchase of four wheels. Bassett also returns to national decal programs for Northern SportMods and Southern SportMods. Drivers in both divisions are required to display two Bassett decals on their race car to eligible for point fund shares. Memorial Weekend date for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Chateau

LANSING, Minn. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars start their Memorial Weekend with a $1,000 to win date at Chateau Speedway. The Friday, May 24 Toot’s Trucking Shootout feature pays a minimum of $75 to start and $50 tow money. There is no entry fee and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and E3 Spark Plugs State points will be awarded at the draw/redraw show. Pit gates open at 5 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. and cutoff for the draw is 6:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. with racing to follow. Hagerstown hosts East Coast Nationals for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars May 24-25

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – All roads lead to Hagerstown Speedway for the May 24-25 East Coast Nationals for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars. The event is co-sanctioned by the Virginia Sprint Series, Pennsylvania Sprint Series and Laurel Highlands Sprint Series, and also features Carolina Sprint Tour and Mid Atlantic Sprint Series competitors. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and E3 Spark Plugs State points will be awarded. Two $300 to win, $150 to start features will be held if there are 70 or more entries on Friday. URSS heads to Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits DODGE CITY, Kan. – A busy stretch consisting of two weekends of racing for the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off this coming Saturday night as the tour makes its second trip of the young 2019 race season to Dodge City Raceway Park and another battle with the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprints. Three events have been completed thus far this season with Jake Martens of Fairview, Okla., picking up the season-opening victory at 81 Speedway back on April 5. The next night the tour made its first trip of the season to Dodge City where track regular Luke Cranston of Ness City picked up the victory. Out-Pace Racing Products renews awards for Deery Series, Arnold’s Dirt Knights Tour

FREEPORT, Ill. – Competitors in both the Deery Brothers Summer Series and the Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour are in the running again this season for awards from Out-Pace Racing Products. The Freeport, Ill., suspension component manufacturer and sixth-year sponsor gives prize packages of brackets and bars to champions in both the Deery Series for IMCA Late Models and the Arnold’s Dirt Knights Tour for IMCA Modifieds. Fifty dollar gift certificates will be awarded to drivers in designated finishing positions at each event in both series, and to selected top five finishers at 30 Modified specials and at 15 specials for Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods. Thornton motors to Durbin Memorial checkers

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (May 15) – There was no catching Ricky Thornton Jr. in the race to the $1,000 IMCA Modified checkers Wednesday at Stuart Speedway’s inaugural Jake Durbin Memorial. Thornton, already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, and Jesse Dennis drew the front row starting spots and it was Thornton jumping out to the early lead. Kyle Brown and Nick Roberts battled for second with Brown holding it down for the first six laps. Roberts got past Brown on lap seven, just before a caution flew. Two more quick yellows on laps 12 and 13 allowed Hunter Marriott to get past Brown and Roberts and on Thornton’s bumper. That was as close as anyone was coming on this night, however, as Thornton roared off into the sunset to take the win. Marriott finished second with Dennis third. Dirt Works Race Cars in seventh season as title sponsor for IMCA Eastern Region

ORONOGO, Mo. – Dirt Works Race Cars continues its long association with IMCA this season, returning as title sponsor of the Eastern Region for Modifieds.
