Outagamie openers go to Whitman, Richards, Engebregtsen, Schulte

SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 12) – One hundred and fifty-two cars packed the pit area for the first night of the 2020 racing season Friday at Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC.

Defending IMCA Modified track champion Johnny Whitman drew the pole for the night’s main event and looked strong early on as Benji LaCrosse gave chase. LaCrosse closed in several times but was never able to mount a serious challenge for the lead.

Whitman led flag to flag earning the victory over LaCrosse. Lucas Lamberies was third, Jason Ebert took fourth and Andy Kleczka completed the top five.

Kenny Richards jumped from the pole position to the lead in the opening lap of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature as Jeremy Christians, Luke Lemmens and Eric Mahlik battled for second. Mahlik broke free of that battle midway through the contest but couldn’t find the grip to catch Richards.

Christians had his race and car go up in a ball flames as the leaders took the white flag. Richards collected the win, the first for him in the division. Mahlik was second, Lemmens placed third, Benji LaCrosse was fourth and Eric Arneson rounded out the top five.

Vince Engebregtsen was dominant in his Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod, leading every lap on his way to a clean sweep in the division.

Tyler Sobiesczyk placed a strong second, Chris Budzban was third, Cory Kemkes took fourth and Goeff Jeche brought home fifth.

In Mach-1 Sport Sport Compact action, Ben Schulte began his title defense with a feature win after surviving a late race restart.

Rookie Vlies cashes in at Outagamie Speedway 

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 18, 2023) – A rookie driver cashed in big Friday at Outagamie Speedway’s $1,000 to win special for Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Tyler Demars set the pace on the opening laps. A caution on lap four allowed rookie Coy Vlies a shot at Demars and he took it. As the field took the green, Vlies threw a slider going into turn one and made a clean pass for the lead. Vlies was able to keep the field at arm’s reach the rest of the way to score the win and a $1,000 payday for his efforts. Jordan Jahnke placed a solid second, Dylon Waldvogel placed third and Matt Radtke was fourth.   The first 17 laps of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified headliner clicked off quickly as Marcus Yarie paced the field. Block, Czarapata, Steenbergen are best at Outagamie

(June 4) – One hundred and forty-two racers checked in to do battle at Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC Friday with IMCA wins going to Wyatt Block Jr., Brandon Czarapata and Jeff Steenbergen. Rookie Jacob Ambrosious paced the open laps of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature until Chas Van Ooyen took the lead on lap five. Van Ooyen immediately came under fire from Czarapata and Rod Snellenberger. Czarapata used the low groove to slip by for the lead on lap 10. Czarapata pulled away as Van Ooyen fell to the wayside with a busted tie rod. Czarapata cruised to his second feature in a row. Snellenberger had his best run of the season to place second, Kevin Hebbe came through the last chance qualifier to take third, Travis Van Straten was fourth and Logan Leary completed the top five. In IMCA Modified action it was Mike Wedelstadt leading the first nine laps until Block used the low groove to get by for the top spot. Whitman goes back-to-back at Outagamie

(June 2, 2023) – Fresh off a heat race win, Wyatt Block looked to be the man to beat early in Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Outagamie Speedway. Last week’s winner Johnny Whitman joined the battle for the top spot before the midway point but with both drivers running the same line, Block was in control. That all changed once Block hit lapped traffic and had to move around the track. Once Block was deep in traffic, Whitman threw a slider in turn three, pinning Block behind a lap car. Whitman took over the top spot and dominated the remainder of the event. Block had to settle for second, Konnor Wilinski took third and fourth went to Lucas Lamberies.   It’s not over till it’s over and that was the case in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods feature, a thriller between Corey Kemkes and Brady Harshbarger.
